Wow 79 pages...

Big props to Landis for coming forward and doing the right thing.

He'll definitely face a ****storm over this.

But it's better than living a lie.

We cycling fans always wanted to support Floyd Landis. We just needed to hear the truth so we could know HOW to support him. Now we have it. It's up to us to defend Landis against the inevitable omerta backlash.

You're the guy that told me blood transfusions cannot be done for the Tour after the Giro. What do you think of Landis allegations that it can be done as late as after the Dauphine?

You need to stop inventing things inn order to troll

Interesting that the BBC report the story that Landis has admitted with direct quotes but no reference to Armstrong. Strange.

After recent scandals the BBC are being very careful about what they say and about whom these days.

Press release - Declarations made by Floyd Landis: the UCI’s position
Date:
20.05.2010

Description: The International Cycling Union has learned of the declarations made by Mr Floyd Landis and published in the Wall Street Journal.

The UCI regrets that Mr Landis has publicly accused individuals without allowing sufficient time for the relevant US authorities to investigate.

An impartial investigation is a fundamental right, as Mr Landis will understand having contested, for two years, the evidence of his breach of the Anti-Doping Rules in 2006.

The UCI will leave it to the individuals accused by Mr Landis to take the position they see fit with regards to this issue

Not strange, simply they are afraid of getting sued by Armstrong. Law is pretty strong in the UK for these things.

ESPN updated their article with comments from Landis.

ESPN.com said:
As for his own positive test, Landis still maintains that result was inaccurate and that he had not used synthetic testosterone during the 2006 season -- although he now admits he used human growth hormone during that time. At this point, he does not want to dwell on any of the issues he and his lawyers hammered at during his case, he said.

"There must be some other explanation, whether it was done wrong or I don't know what," he said. "You can try to write it however you want -- the problem I have with even bothering to argue it is [that] I have used testosterone in the past and I have used it in other Tours, and it's going to sound kind of foolish to say I didn't."

Landis exhausted most of his own savings in fighting his case, which cost an estimated $2 million, and also raised funds for his defense in a well-publicized effort. He said he would pay those donors back if he could, but does not have the money to do so. He said he did not level with the people close to him, but declined to say whether he informed his lawyers of his past drug use.

Armstrong doesn't have that many legal options, he doesn't want to end up in a civil case discussing whether or not he doped.

Maybe Flandis has been reading posts here on the forum the past months.

Lance will likely go to the Born Again Christian Card and Rally the Tea party as a distraction.

So basically the UCI is refusing to investigate the claims, rather than saying they are willing to listen if he has solid evidence.

Also am I correct in thinking that Landis did not release this into the public domain, someone else did?

How do we know it was Flandis who leaked the documents? Smear, smear, smeary-smear.

David "I'm not even using recovery therapy" Millar.
yes, implicit in such a euphemism, is "recovery therapy" is not doping, it is just managing one's levels. <eyes roll>

IMO Evans would be doing recovery therapy at a minimum. No riders of his age, 33 or 34, made breakthroughs in the era before O2 vector techniques. They were retiring then. Now you have Voigt, Horner, Leipheimer, StrongArm, Konychev, Dierkxsens, etc hitting their straps in their mid to late 30's. Not credible.

Dear Pat.....

Since you believe this:
An impartial investigation is a fundamental right.

who is going to impartialy investigate the UCI and the allegations that Lance flew to say hi and bring cash to your superior Hein when he was President of the UCI?

In fact your press release doesn't mention anything about it or the positive EPO test.

Just ask Clayton Stevenson what he found out when he went across as a wide-eyed boy to ride as a pro for RMO. Came back home sharpish when he say what needed to be done.

Sure, I go sleep (sleep -pah...) and look what happens in the morning....Interesting that the majority of the early comments on the NYTimes story about this are not the usual mainstream American "Floyd's a liar/Armstrong's a saint" or "they're all on steroids (sic)" variety: more about, in line with this forum, 'finally' and the need to bring this out. With Bonnie Ford from espn (who is very good) and Janet Macur from the NYT running with this, it will not go away in the bigger world - you know LA is doing a hard-core offensive briefing with multiple PR firms right now: he's already planning his redemption strategy - "get Oprah on the phone - stat!".

Just brings up what I said to someone three years ago on the DP forums: "don't have heroes" - you'll get screwed...

I am not going to be surprised if FLandis turns up dead soon. Some big names have a lot to lose if this doesn't get silenced quickly.

I was wondering whether he or Tyler would crack first. Interesting days...

I read this story this morning and got really excited that the Armstrong empire might finally get taken down. Then I went a did a bit of fact checking.

http://www.tissottiming.com/sports/cycling/road/tds/2002/stage_01/ST_E_01_en.htm

Armstrong wasn't in the 2002 Tour de Suisse, and it was the 2001 edition he won.

If I read it correctly, I think he is relating a story Lance told him in 2002. The incident would have occurred, as you correctly noted, in 2001.

EDIT: I see others cleared up your confusion.
