Gesink, despite his abandon in the Dutch nats, doesn't have any lasting problem. Televaag is quoting a Rabo team doctor who says it was a hunger knock....

That could be possible. The race was already over the 200km mark, and those knocks can happen very quickly if when the come, so the fact that he attacked about 5kms before his knock does't necessarily rule that out.

So no changes to the Rabo team line-up, appears like.

That's like the third different version we hear in a couple of hours.

I hope all is well with Gesink but guess who on this forum has been slated and doubted most recently for the same.

Most likely Gesink attacked, found out he was not good (he just came back from altitude YESTERDAY!) and decided not to take any chances and just drop out.

Still dissapointing. But he wasn't good at the 1st days of the Dauphine either after just coming back from altitude back. He'll be good when the tour starts.
It's not like andy schleck finishing 14 minutes back in the hardest mt stage.

I just noticed Garmins team:

DANIELSON Tom
FARRAR Tyler
HESJEDAL Ryder
HUSHOVD Thor
LE MEVEL Christoph
MILLAR David
VANDEVELDE Christian
VANSUMMEREN Johan
ZABRISKIE David

I'm guessing their plan is to have Hushovd lead out Farrar. I wonder how that will work out. I would have expected them to bring Dean or Lancaster as lead out since they are among the best in the busniess but I guess they felt they owed it to their other riders to bring more guys for the mountains.

Yeah, I assume it's nothing serious, but at least make the story a bit coherent, Rabo communications guy.

I read this on the wielerflits website.

"It had to do with the adjustment to altitude training. I was a bit short of breath, and I had been riding in the lead for a long time," said Gesink to De Telegraaf. Nothing to worry about it, he reassured. "It's not an injury. I am also not worried for the Tour. It's a shame though."

Andy Schleck was pretty roundly ridiculed around these parts for his recent alleged bonk.

Gesink did not bonk, there are many stories out there about what took place today. However, he was simply having some adjustment problems it seems. He was interviewed by the NOS where he never mentioned anything about bonking.

And he realized all of sudden, after dropping his own teammates?

I guess it happened after - or during - the attack. He did not go into details. For the record, I could not wrap my mind around the reasoning for that attack either.
It was all part of the magical plan to get Ligthart to win this race.

Who cares about Gesink dropping out, we'll see in the Tour what his form is like.

Not sure if anyone posted these yet. (From wielerflets.nl)

AG2R:

Nicolas Roche, John Gadret, Hubert Dupont, Jean-Christophe Péraud, Christophe Riblon, Maxime Bouet, Sébastien Minard, Sébastien Hinault and Biel Kadri

FDJ:

William Bonnet, Sandy Casar, Mickael Delage, Arnold Jeannesson, Remi Pauriol, Anthony Roux, Jerome Roy, Artur Vichot and Gianni Meersman

Really good to see Meersman in the selection. He showed so much promise when he was young. Had a good season so far.

Many Dutchies probably went apesh*t when he dropped out. The NOS interviewer didn't ask him for nothing if the Dutchies can sleep soundly tonight knowing that he's just fine.

Shame Fedrigo isn't going. :(

I have to level with you here, I do not understand what you are trying to get across. It seems you were trying to get smart with me. Try again.
