After Tirreno and this last couple of days Amador looks like a useful guy in short bumpy stage races (eg País Vasco and Tirreno, but not the ones with long hard climbs) and hilly classics.

Asturias now has two uphill finishes, with the Naranco climb added now that the traditional warm-up race has sadly eaten the bullet.

Could have been predicted, especially after Marianne's win in La Flèche Wallonne. Pauline Ferrand-Prévot continues to prove that Andrea Guardini's not the only rookie setting the world alight as she mixes it with the élites of the women's péloton. Keep an eye out for Rossella Callovi, too - teammate of Cooke, Guderzo and Bastianelli, the former Junior World Champion has just turned 20 and is making waves - though her spring has not been as successful as last year's.

that's because the rest were dropped and taken out of race, happens all the time in these races

Mancebo dominated the Tour of the Gila, winning the two tough stages, finishing 3rd in the TT and 3rd in the bunch sprint in the 2nd stage. His worse finish was 6th in the crit. It really is a shame for all parties he's relegated to doing this type of race. He should have the chance to compete in bigger races against guys his level and these other guys should be able to compete for the win themselves.

Another good result for young Lachlan Morton following his strong Langkawi. And 18-yr old fellow Aussie, Parker follows in Sergeant's footsteps by winning the TT (though it wasn't against Levi and Dave Z this year).

Nice to see some more non-sprint talent coming from Australia. Those two guys total age is almost the same as Mancebo

With this race moving into Catalunya's old slot and drawing a similar field to the Vuelta a Asturias, I can see a similar kind of effect. The race has the Criterium International format, but flipped around so the mountain is tomorrow. I'm expecting to see the likes of Javier Moreno, Hernâni Broco, Tino Zaballa up there again.
