Haha yes, well I must say I enjoyed it, typical Belgium weather.

Really? It was hot & sunny in Brussels that day.

Outsprinting Degenkolb?! He shouldn't have ended his career so soon!

I did not say he outsprinted Degenkolb, but he "outsprinted" Degenkolb. My point was not to claim Cancellara won a big race but to show how much he's been respected in Belgium throughout his career. He's got a fan-club here and Golazo is organising a farewell event like they did for Nys. It's alread been talked about I think.

I'm in favour of those criteriums though. They are a good way for anonymous riders to earn their bread and good races for cyclocrossers to buid-up for winter.

Surely they'd participate in the Tour of Hainan and/or the Tour of Taihu Lake.

Nice win by Timothy DuPont beating Gaviria. You guys love Gaviria but easily beaten

Thats because Gaviria attacked like 100 times and was always in the wind. Etixx should never bring kittel and gaviria to the same race.

Well, if Kittel hadn't been forced to abandon things might've gone differently. Gaviria attacking to tire out the others, then Kittel sprinting.

Initially thought Gaviria had a problem with the gears but the overhead showed he just didn't have it. Maybe he needs a little more race fitness. Maybe he wore himself out before the sprint. But after the Olympics it could just as well be that he peaked too soon this season.

In any case, 260km in Qatar is going to be a big ask. On the flip side, he's going to have seven guys working for him (and Esteban Chaves for the pep talk) on a team with no expectations to do any actual work, so that helps.

I actually think he has some decent shape right now, he was very good in the race overall just paid for his efforts in the sprint. Distance shouldn't be a problem for him in Qatar.

Only 3 pro wins though.

Half of his wins are against u23 guys though.

Maybe, but the consistency is still remarkable:

UCI Racing days: 65
UCI Top10: 47
UCI Top3: 28
UCI Wins: 16

A win is a win is a win, and I rate the value of all those Belgian 1.2 race wins combined higher then a bunch of Guardini-like HC stage wins in Qinghai or Hainan.

Just saw the last 30k on eurosport. Gaviria was in like 10 breaks, kittel didn't pull out until 20k so this sprint means nothing.

Korsaeth was amazing today, in all the breaks like gaviria, solo from 7- 8k or so and held off the bunch chasing the sprint until 150meter. Strongest by far in this race.
