Dani Moreno attacked on the climb of El Violeo in the final stage of Asturias, chased by Carthy and Pardilla for Caja (1-2 in the GC) and Fred Figueiredo although the latter was eventually dropped. Moreno took the stage, unsurprisingly from that trio since he's the only one who can sprint, but obviously Caja Rural's 1-2 in the GC was unthreatened, along with Garikoitz Bravo taking 3rd for Euskadi-Murias which might just be that team's best ever result at this level.

Young Colombian Higuita was 17th on the stage (he is from 1997 like Bernal) while Ortega (from 1996) was 27th on the stage but held on to his top 20 overall due to a good ride on the MTF on stage one (where he finished 17th)

PCS have Moreno as 3rd overall.

So do Bici and CQ, but Bravo stood on the podium at the actual event!

His main goal was to win the KOM, which he didn't succeed in (3rd), but 17th is a nice result for someone who's riding his first professional race ever.

Funny! At least also Bravo could have enjoyed his moment on the podium. Who cares about official final results :)

Moreno took the stage so hopefully he was not too unhappy about missing out on the GC podium celebration. Movistar DS however should be more aware about what's going on next time.

God to see that Bauhaus is finally getting over his year long series of injuries and illnesses. After beating Kristoff in DePanne he finally wins his 1st race since joining Bora.

Another second place for Ray Kreder in 4 Jours de Dunkerque! Coquard wins stage 1, Cofidis did a really bad job for Bouhanni. Soupe led out Coquard while Bouhanni was in about 10th place, blocked in against the barriers.

Wasn't the tour of azer(spelling) shown live on Eurosport last year?

They showed the last stage live in 2013 and 2014 with brief highlights of the others, then last year only showed stages 3-5, on British anyway. Can't recall for sure if all three were live.

Synergy Baku showed themselves in their homecountry today, winning stage 2 of the Tour of Azerbeidzjan with home rider Maksym Averin and having 4 riders in the front group. The great David De La Fuente was tenth!

And the first time an Azeri rider has won a stage in the Tour d'Azerbaidjan!

More like: the first time a rider with an Azeri passport won a stage etc. - Averin was born Ukrainian and switched only in 2014 to an Azerbaijani licence. They did the same with Oleksandr Surutkovych. Enough oil money available...

Averin has always had ties to Azerbaijan, and is now an Azeri citizen. Surutkovych is Ukranian and always has been.
