Any idea on how you might pronounce Przemyslaw Niemec's name? Seriously, the Polish language scares me (love the country, so many beautiful women).

the cluster 'rz' is pronounced like the French j, or the s in 'pleasure'.

After a voiceless consonant such as 'p', it will usually be devoiced by most speakers, and so become like the English 'sh' (but the 'sh' as in 'shop', not the 'sh' as in 'ship').

The l actually has a bar through it, and the Polish l-bar, intended to differentiate 'light l' (eg 'light') from 'dark l' (eg. 'bell'), now represents a sound like w.

An I after a consonant 'palatalises' it, so you pronounce it with a little 'yuh' after it, or with the point of pronunciation very high in your mouth.

C is pronounced 'ts' in Polish.

Therefore his name should be pronounced something like "pshemmiswav ñemyets"

really impressive ride. Tom Jelte Slagter looks like a talent. Hopefully if he continues to progress he can find a spot in the main team in the next couple of years.

I'd like to see Van Poppel and vermelfoot make the sqaud next year.

I watched it last night.
First over the line? One of those pesky Vacansoleil guys, Matteo Carrara. When are they going to learn that to get a Tour invite, you mustn't race to win, just to train, like those two US red teams.

Anyhow, I digress. Worth a read:
http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/settimana-ciclistica-lombarda-by-bergamasca-2-1/stage-4/results

There was a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth over EBH's Tirreno sprint, the other week. THIS was in a different league.

Carrara and Scarponi dropped everyone off the final climb, Carrara doing all the leading. He did all the work on the flat, too. Scarponi slows it for Sucka Serpa to latch on.
Carrara leads out and shuts out Serpa on their right. Tries again and MC shuts him out on their left. Serpa pulls his foot out.

DQS? No question, but the best man on the day lost out to a guy who NEVER comes through.

Metaphorical, really, for Vacansoleil's string of non-invites :p

Too bad the Chicken pulled out of this race, I'd love to see him fight it out with the Cobra.
