In my mind, that's more a consideration for whether they wanted to resign him. I don't necessarily quarrel with letting him move on, but while he is under contract, not letting him race the Vuelta didn't make sense prospectively - and it looks worse in hindsight.Perhaps Ineos may consider it's about time considering what they are paying him.
It's such a shame that we don't have a proper Ardennes race outside of Liège. There is excellent terrain around Namur, but no, let's design this race for an uphill sprint instead.
