My guess would be finances. They have been swapping back and forth between 1.1 and 1.HC a several times now.

I wonder if there is some incentive given to start this race for teams riding Tour de Suisse perhaps.

Coming back together at the summit, looks like a sprint of maybe 40 riders. Much less selective than it's previously been since the route change.

Van Gils wins. Very ugly crash in the sprint, Nys took a big hit.

It's like Thibau always has a mental shutdown when things get narrow. This will not help at all.

I agree. The first mistake he made was closing down the gap on his two teammates. The second one was not launching himself. The third one was trying to kick too late in a far too narrow space, with the crash as a result.

I was impressed with Foldager. Came from a million ways back in the last km had to close a 20 or 30 metre gap with 500 metres to gp, then had to weave from left to right so sprint. Now that he's found form then he could win a race in 2024.

Nys should not have closed the gap to his two teammates when they got away in the final bend. Then Bagioli would probably have won.

Van Gils 8 top-5s in 11 one day races this year is impressive.

9 in 12 if counting Andalucia.

And even if you did speak it as a non-native speaker, you'd still have to penetrate the Swiss accent.
