Aular & Caja Rural get the win at Trofeo Matteotti - chapeau!

“I am very happy to have achieved this victory here in Italy, in the Trofeo Matteotti," Aular reflects afterwards to Caja Rural - Seguros RGA's official website. "The team has been phenomenal, all the tactics that our director Rubén had suggested to us were fulfilled. The intention was to always have a rider in front to avoid working behind, it is a very tough race and that is how it has been done from the beginning. In the end I was there in the decisive part with Thomas Silva, who did a great job for me in those final kilometres, and the truth is that I am very happy to achieve this victory, both for me and for the team.”

So according to the Roadbook, we have the return of the 1,000 Euro radar sprint Award! This has unfortunately nothing to do with the character in M*A*S*H but is the fastest guy over 1 km with 15.54 km to go. As no details seem to be given about times, speed etc., my guess is a local guy will pick up the 1,000 Euros.

"During the unique "FIBRE DE PROXIMUS" sprint, the riders will be timed between KM-1 and the sprint line. The rider having The fastest kilometre will win a bonus of 1000€. This prize will be awarded during the protocol ceremony."

Grand Prix de Wallonie today and the startlist has some interesting late additions -
Groves for Alpecin, Lutsenko for Astana, Lapeira & Lafayfor AG2R & Girmay for Intermaché.

Otherwise it's a rematch of Wellens and De Lie with a whole host of other contendors for podium spots. If Abrahamsen has his "Tour legs" then he could be a outside pick.

Edit - ad - update - TV from 15.45 CET today not 16.00 CET.
