I'm not all that fond of Piper At The Gates of Dawn-era Floyd, though Interstellar Overdrive and some of the singles are great, while Jugband Blues is absolutely horrible and one of the worst things they ever did.

Either way, for all the love Syd gets, almost all classic Floyd is post-Syd. I can readily see Pink Floyd performing without him and being prepared to accept it as Pink Floyd, whereas Zeppelin sans Bonham or New Order performing under the Joy Division name without Ian, not sure.

Christ this is way too political. Not as political as the football world cup which basically claims to save mankind every 4 years, but still.

People keep moaning about keeping sport out of politics but it is far more pathetic to see politics in sport.
