and there are the cyclists.

Judging by that one that took off it looks like those wings really help on the climbs. Maybe one for Team Sky to take up in time for next year's tour?.:D

Syd.

Ten characters

I'm not all that fond of Piper At The Gates of Dawn-era Floyd, though Interstellar Overdrive and some of the singles are great, while Jugband Blues is absolutely horrible and one of the worst things they ever did.

Either way, for all the love Syd gets, almost all classic Floyd is post-Syd. I can readily see Pink Floyd performing without him and being prepared to accept it as Pink Floyd, whereas Zeppelin sans Bonham or New Order performing under the Joy Division name without Ian, not sure.

agreed. Syd was just the nutjob that made s some OK songs. Gilmour and Waters is what Floyd is about ;)

Christ this is way too political. Not as political as the football world cup which basically claims to save mankind every 4 years, but still.

People keep moaning about keeping sport out of politics but it is far more pathetic to see politics in sport.

Rather than reward an athlete to carry the olympic flame on the boat, they give it to Beckham for being famous:(

when the organizers said the ceremony was going to be rather "humble" in comparison to Beijing-I hope they never meant to be "poor".......

Well, that was sad.

They should've hired some Chinese to do it right or, to do it on the cheap, replaced the opening with a montage of Benny Hill skits.

Yeah, I was thinking that was a little weird and creepy.

The Olympics used to be run by a fascist who insisted that people call him 'Your Excellency' and the games are based on nationalism. Some goose stepping and sieg heiling seems appropriate.
