How the fruck does banana boy get his mug on tv, radio, newspaper and go riding with the who's who of world cycling? How does a stick insect get a wasp girlfriend like that? WTF?!!

1) because he obsessively chases down all these riders - and the rest of us have better things to do. If you really believe it has anything to do with being thin or something like that then you really should seek help.

2) because she shares a common interest - its how most relationships grow - look it up.

I've ridden with Robbie McEwen, Jono Cantwell, and Daryl Impey, and this was after leaving the pub at 2am but you don't see me telling the whole forum about it.

I'd like see durianrider post in the Cuisine Corner thread. Maybe he could post some recipes and photos of his food. 30 bananas a day may work for him but I need more variety. I would be more than willing to try new things. Perhaps he could suggest vegan substitutes for animal products.

LOL - just noticed the string wrapped around the stem :D

And what is that on the bar, by the stem? Looks like a mtb shifter? I just got all confused looking at this thing. Isn't that a triple chainring? Shraeder valves? And the name / names. "Transition" is one Spec model, but "shiv module" is another model. Smwbody get a deal on Specialized decals? I combed their web site and the closest thing I could find was this...

DR is like a crazy little brother ..... he's a little wacky in a very good way ! If it were not for his "wackiness", I may have never tried eating more fruit. In turn, this has snowballed into a better way of eating and living for myself. Thanks DR ! .. for putting this info out there .

It's real easy to make fun what you know nothing about. . . and it shows how foolish it is to do so..

The forum for the most part doesn't even really understand about 30 bananas a day. It has nothing to do with eating 30 b's a day, it simply represents eating a minimum of 3000 calories a day from any fruit. Even if you start of by eating cooked carbs like sweet potatoes, it's a start. There are no "substitutes" for animal products. A vegan meat substitute does nothing but keep you thinking of what you're subbing it for. It's a no-win. This is a whole different frame of mind. You must be willing to drop what you thought you knew of eating and try something different. If you're not willing to do that, then you will likely fail... and likely come here and complain about how it was the worst thing you ever tried. Is it for everyone? It appears there has not, or ever been one single diet on the planet, so I doubt it's happening anytime soon. But hey, how's the Western way of eating working out for the most part? I bet you if we didn't have the medical care we did to save people's **** from their own bad eating habits, by all the bypass's, the drugs to keep their "whatever" under control... the population would be dropping like flies. So instead we keep them alive like half human zombies.... taking their meds . . . dependent on them for living. Meanwhile they continue to eat the same foods that got them there in the first place.... confident that when another crisis arises, their will be another drug or surgery. By eating the same low energy food ... they remain in half zombied for the rest of their life. That's very sad to witness. Is eating a bunch of fruit or veg a guarantee to perfect health? Of course not, but I bet it's a better for us that what most of us have grown up eating and living by.

He's urging people to try something that he's found offers more energy to live life. Who doesn't want that? Some here may think he's just here to **** you off by your reactions to his message. Don't like the delivery? Good! It stopped your habitual mind for a second and made you think about it. That's the whole point! A seed might be planted for the future when you get tired of the way you're living.

I'm just giving my honest assessment here because I have tried it in earnest and will continue doing so.

BTW .... This forum is pretty drab without his posts , just look at all the replies here. The mods may not like some of his ways, but I'm sure CN is happy to get the traffic.

for "information" read "incoherent ranting".

leaving aside your actual position, your arguments are not very clear.

and giving nutritional advice to those who are 30kgs overweight "farting into the couch" isn't rocket science (and needn't be as extreme as veganism - but I don't really care to argue against veganism. Whatever floats your boat.)

Every post you make is about how awesome you are and, therefore, how awesome being a vegan is.

Don't get me wrong I like this dude he makes the board readable,

I love vegi-rationale:

'It works for me therefore.....it works for everyone, What don;t believe me? Look at my chick.'

I mean how can you not love that

I was not speaking of meat substitutes and I agree with you on that point. I was thinking more along the lines of substituting mayonnaise on a sandwich with hummus or soy milk in your coffee for cream. Eating is more than just taste. Appearance and texture also play a large part. Getting people to change their eating habits has worked best for me by making small changes over time rather than a large change all at once.

Thanks Lostintime - that is exactly the point that a lot of us were raising.

Here is a little experiment. Can you point to a post where DurianRider has said this? (I'll allow that there may be one but I've never seen it)

Now, can you point to a post by Durianrider that has pictures of him with pro riders and/or comments about how thin and popular he is?

The message that he is supposedly so keen to get out there isn't merely drowned out by his self-promotion. Its totally missing.

Durian riders thread of self aggrandizement

As Martin has said, another such thrad by Durianrider would ensure that they would all be included in one single thread. More threads may be included later

LOts of threads

Many threads join to form a fabric, but of what?

btw: Back in 1970 I knew a guy who lived off of spinach and walnuts. For the three months I lived in the building he would go down to the basement every day and grind up spinach and walnuts. LOng bushy hair and beard, pale colourless skin, but the diet did keep him alive for at least 3 months I was there.

veganism is NOT a diet. It is an ethical philosophy the impact of which is most obvious in diet.

Too hard

After laughing at and pondering the entire 128 pages of this thread I think many have been too harsh on 'ol Darain. My quess is he's using the Opera OS w/ the Google translate set to MeMeMe.He also may not be aware that there's a new software app called "Dickcheck". Works just like spellcheck but if the outgoing message has too much "ME" time it scans it and makes changes. You can keep the default "humble" or dial it all the way up to "McEwen". We now return you to the previous program already in progress......:p

Really Craig.I didn't know Cannondales had that rep.
I just watched some of Durian vid but I found it a bit boring. He needs some more jokes in there. If an old tramp staggered into view and took a **** right next to his bike, that would be much better.
I think his character is a bit of a rip off of Rimmer in Red Dwarf but funny non the less.

i agree with other posters that there is nothing wrong with mr vegan's message

the militant type of delivery of the message is the problem

people dont dislike you because you are vegan

I live with a guy who works in a bike shop and his three hates are SRAM Red, Cannondale, and Specialized.
