I think it's pretty clear that the message was to stop the off topic posting. He continued and got banned for it.

Agreed. ebandit is a wind up merchant. He likes to push the limit and good that he was banned, I would have liked it to be longer.

Its known as an "ellipsis". I think when you and ebandit try to wind up people together, then it gets out of hand. Its been good that he has been getting banned a lot recently. The forum is so much easier to read and respond.

so weeks ban for off topic posting is fair?....v next ban week off for insulting
other members

clearly irondan thinks little of myself or my posts...that's my 3 rd ban in a
year each for flimsy reasons...a period in which no other mod found it necesary
to issue a single warning or infraction...

Until the 2016 Tour I was the only active mod for almost the entire preceding year, that would make sense that no other mod found it necessary to ban you for your transgressions.

I think he made a very valid point about this forum where banning has been made the first resort instead of it being the last.

Ebandit deleted his own post.

First of all, ebandit asked for a ban.... so he got one.

Secondly, we (mods) are not bound by any forum policy that states "banning should only be used as a last resort".

The moderation team discusses each forum infraction individually and acts upon them as necessary. Sometimes this results in a ban, sometimes a warning or sometimes we delete a comment. Many times we do nothing, it all depends on the situation.

Whether or not you deserved to be banned is one question.
Whether or not posters should joke about banning you is another.

The former is just another judgment call.
The latter is repulsive BS.

Really have know idea why I got a month ban for some fairly innocuous comments, perhaps a mod could PM me as to what caused such a lengthy ban.
