Yes, but carrying a camelback is going to make him overheat. You can be as hydrated as you like, but if you can't cool down it's still not going to end well.

he'll use an icepack (?) as well to cool the body down

taking bottles in echelons is impossible so they must look for other means to get something to drink..

Well, the juniors could ride on the Champ Elysees and a bunch sprint wouldnt be guaranteed.

Great race though. Denmark rode perfect tactically and had the legs to back it up in the end.

What ice pack is going to last nearly 6 hours? In 35+ degree heat the longest it will be effective for is about 30-40 minutes. GVA's domestiques will have to go back to the cars several times in the race anyway, then he's going to have to change it over while racing at 45kmh, in the middle of 150+ riders. It's not really a viable option.

I dont understand why someone (UCI) has not set up a shower system that riders can go to the side to ride through to get a full soaking of cool water. They do it on Cols in TdF!!

Like the 2008 Olympics RR? That worked out well, it's probably the only viable option here.

Belgian team is pretty worried about 200riders constantly fetching bottles because they'll have to drink ALOT. Roads in the desert are appearently not too wide and carrying bottles on the circuit might be even more difficult.

He said that the first 2-3 echelons will likely come together on the final circuit, but adds thatthere isno hiding for anyone during echelons. So a sprinter will have to do his work as well.

GVA might ride with a camelbag I read in a flemish newspaper, since taking bottles in the race will be very difficult...

Tony Martin will ride with a small cart carrying 6 big water tanks for Germany i heard. Possibly a portable shower at the end.

From CyclingTips' preview:
He’s (Nacer Bouhanni) also got a strong French team around him, including Milan-San Remo winner Arnaud Demare who will likely be on lead-out duties.

by the way, i really didn't like the french's attitude in today's l'equipe. they all seem sure that it will be a bunch sprint, very relaxed and calm
i think they won't make the top 10. they also arrived only yesterday...
