Kiri is a superb rider at peaking for this race, similar to Zaugg at Lombardia.

you are partly right: Kiry Worlds TT placings

3rd 2012
4th 2013
4th 2014
1st 2015
2nd 2016

Zaugg Lombardia: 1st 2011

anyway, Martin unbeatable but super to see Kiry getting a medal
Yeah you're right, Kiri's performances are much more impressive (I'd thought Zaugg got more than his one other top 10 to go along with his win).

Am I the only one who has never heard of this Mullen guy?

He's been a well-regarded TT prospect in Ireland for several years, even before losing the 2014 U23 worlds TT by half a second. Almost all his results have been in TTs although he did finish 3rd in the Rás last year. Then he signed for JV and had done diddly squat this year until today - Cannondale doesn't seem to be a great place for developing young talent these days unfortunately. He's on Strava - https://www.strava.com/pros/307079 - he has a bunch of KOMs here in Dublin.

Does he regularly pop over from his home in Wales?

Maybe. I imagine he has family there, and it's not exactly a very long trip.

Well done to Tony, but it was a weird results page. Expected better from Dennis in the heat, and have to say Lampaert pulled one out the bag.

Amazing ride by Mullen, particularly as he's a first year neopro. As others have noted above, he's highly rated as a prospect but generally had a quiet year. Cannondale said when they signed him that they would be careful with his number of race days and the amount of pressure they put on him in his first year, but even so I think he'd have hoped for a better season. So it's great to see him up there in the top 5 at his first (elite) WC.

Congratulations to Tony. Also to Kiryienka showing that last year was no fluke.
