every season is different , for example Quintana is having a season below expectations but he arrived 2nd at the giro and won 6 races with also tirreno adriatico , but now people say that he is a new andy schleck and he will never win tour de france, it's pretty stupid , so don't hype MAL because at the first season below expectations he will have the same treatment Nairo quintana is having

I think you're making the classic mistake of thinking that everyone on the forum is speaking with one united voice - rather than different people having differing opinions on things. I, for example, don't think Quintana is finished at all, or that he's the new Schleck, so am I allowed to hype Lopez?

but i think that Nairo Quintana is laughing at those saying he will not win Gt or tour de france , honestly he doesn't give credit to them , as also for all the other top riders who earns millions while wannebe commentators are here pretending their opionion are the word of God , and they are also arrogant and aggressive please calm down

One thing I do wonder though, he spent a lot of energy in a lot of attacks now. It's possible he'll fade a bit in the third week right? I mean, you can't go ballistic each mountain stage without fading nowadays.

It's his first GT, maybe even he doesn't know if he'll fade or get better. It's also hard to guess how's his TT. One thing is certain, he was let go by everybody until now which will not be the case in the last week unless he'll loose all that he gained in the ITT.

That is a possibility, I do fear as well.
Maybe he has energy to just follow wheels this third week.

In general he gets stronger (less weak) as a race progresses, but he it's ofcourse the first time he rides for 3 weeks in row. I think he will be fine though.

2013 quintana was way more impressive than MAL, no doubt about that. Fortunately, I think MAL will have a steady progess and not a BOOM and early peak like quintana, mainly because MAL had so many injuries in the last years, he broke his leg not even one year ago.
His main problem is his skills on the bike, he is awful...

He was massively hyped here (partly in joke) before last years Vuelta but he crashed out from the race. But, he has been really impressive, considering this is his first proper GT, even Quintana did not came close to this in his first GT, and I don't remember someone winning 2 MTF's in his first GT in recent years.

Barguil did in 2013 but in breakaway.

of course Quintana was better at 23 , but just by a very small margin , what he did against Froome in 2013 is something from the ages , fantastic

Lose by four minutes?
Yep, Quintana is pretty overestimated because of that one stage win compared to Pantani 1994![/quo

Have to say that Pantani in 1994 arrived behind urugomov , do you remeber or you are too Young.
However this is mal thread and i say that i will never do the prediction that many did , how you can be sure that he will be better than Nairo , this is an opinion that could be very wrong , who knows
I had the 1994 Giro d'Italia in mind, where Pantani did beat a certain Miguel Indurain for second place.

Anyway, Ugrumov was second at the Giro d'Italia the year before, won the baby Giro and podiumed Course de la Paix. In fact he's been one of the most talented guys of the ninenties and in 1994 he was literally flying for well known reasons. Pantani still finished that Tour ahead of LeBlanc and Virenque who lost his podium spot to little Marco in the final mtt!

Literally flying? Really?

Worth bearing in mind his form was pretty bad first week, after the lack of racing all season. If anything, I'm expecting him to get stronger, especially based on his previous stage races and especially his performance in Switzerland, but of course, you never know

His first win wasn't an MTF, and Formigal is rather soft.

He did beat some quality breakaway companions, though: Nocentini, Mollema, Santaromita, Zandio, Txurruka, Scarponi, Martinez.
