Just thought about, Vuelta could be held as a non-UCI race this year, couldn’t it? This way, the organizers could invite MAL…

And if that works well, all future organizers could behave this way. Then MAL‘s ban wouldn’t be a hindrance any more…

No. Just no! The Vuelta organisers aren't gonna give up their UCI (WT) status just so they can invite one random dude, who they couldn't invite anyway.
Some of you guys are acting as if the whole cycling structure is about to collapse because he can't race.

Why would ASO want to do that?

Having survived the ProTour Wars, why would ASO again want to go to war with the UCI?
I figured it was a joke, but the real answer is:

I'd like to think it was a joke but somehow I doubt Roglic Fan is that sophisticated.

So, let's treat it as posed, a serious (ha!) proposal.

As the ProTour Wars demonstrated, ASO would not gain unlimited power, being kicked out of the Olympic movement and probably mired in legal disputes à la Velon. The Widow Amaury called a halt to the earlier dispute because it was financially damaging the family business. Why would she go there again?

Humans have this great habit of being very bad at learning from past mistakes. Every time the economy is facing a bubble, bankers and financial experts figure "but this time the bubble is so big it cannot burst!" (very oversimplified naturally).

But yeah, the end result probably wouldn't be great for ASO, or UCI or us the viewer.

Humans, in general, yes. But ASO? The Amaurys are very, very conservative. They're not going to war with no one without reason. The ProTour Wars was because of Verbruggen's attempt to muscle in on their turf. Today? They have a cosy relationship with Aigle.
Relationship? ASO has an vicarious agent as UCI president. Currently there's no governing body in cycling only Amaurys's auxiliary person!

After watching these last Vuelta stages, with Tourmalet, Angliru, and today‘s MTF, it makes me even sadder that „they“ had decided to pull MAL out „of the game“…

This year’s route was tailormade for him. He already won Gamoniteiru, which is slightly harder than Angliru.

Well, all that remains for the moment are the usual, big questions: „What if?“, and “Why?“… :-(

Same as Pantani, back in the days, in Madonna di Campiglio, in 1999: why does one specific rider have to be treated as the scapegoat?

Things I won’t discuss here, since it‘s clinic related stuff.

All I can say is, by excluding MAL, we got betrayed of epic battles, within this Vuelta: MAL vs Jumbo; the only man who could have battled the current Top-3 on GC…

Very sad, and I don’t want to know how MAL feels. Maybe he‘ll be back, one day, in time, and will battle Uijtdebroeks and Evenepoel.
