Farrar and Haussler would be pretty good bets with pretty big pay-offs IMHO but I don't ever bet cash personally.

I like 'em too but MSR has been crapshooting my favorites lately. I'll play blackjack and take home some money. There's alot of guys riding well already.

It has written Phillipe Gilbert all over it. Arguably the finish suits him better this year. I reckon that it will be better for Pozzato as well, and maybe A guy like Gasparotto should be added to that list.
of course the sprinters wont give up easy and it should be a dramatic finish. guys like Freire, Boonen, Bennati, Greipel and Hushovd will of course aim to be there on the finish line.

One could also argue that this is one for the strong guys like Cancellara or maybe EBH.
there will always be a group of riders who can win it, but I will stick with my initial guess Gilbert...

Gilbert solo or boonen in a sprint. Ballan is looking a bit better every stage in tirenno so he might be an outside chance. Pozzato could do something as well.

Got Bennati at 20-1 yesterday before he moved in, so pretty pleased with that.

At the moment.

Current Liquigas sprint train > 2009 Columbia sprint train.

If Bennati can make use of that train, which will be full speed over the Poggio, he ****s this in. If he doesn't, someone comes off his wheel. No one else in the peloton at the moment have their train as organised as Liquigas. No one. It's his time to shine now he's fully fit and I'm confident he will make use of it.

My long shot is Van Avermaet, he doesn't have the punch to beat the top sprinters, but if he's gone with a small group, I don't think he has to fear the likes of Scarponi or Garzelli in a sprint.

There's a difference with last year.

Last year, he at least won some sprints and let go LATE on the climbs, yes he did finish behind, but not like this year. This year, he hasn't won a sprint yet, been beaten by the likes of Alex Rasmussen and Theo Bos, who, although reputated sprinters on track, are fairly new on the road, and has shown no slight sense of form uphill whatsoever.
If there ever was a time to write Cavendish off, it's now. I can't see it happening. But ok, you're right in one thing, I couldn't see it happening last year either.
