I don’t think Pog attacks on Cipressa, I think they try and drill it there, shed the numbers, and he has one man left for the Poggio, probably Wellens, to do one last turn before Pog tries to go.

If it doesn’t work this year, Cipressa attack in 2025 incoming.

In an ideal situation, Pog would prefer having two teammates in the brake. At Cipressa, Poggi launch an attack and catching up with his teammates on the other side. The teammates going full gas to Poggio where Poggi launches his devastating attack and rides solo to the finish line.

Milan Sanremo is the race that truly lives up to the 'its worth the wait mantra'

UAE will obviously take matters into their own hands, however I think that rather than waiting for the Cipressa they should start drilling it from Capo Berta as it actually has the hardest ramps on the race. This way we can get to the end of Cipressa with an even smaller group than last year, ideally 15-20 riders with teams having at most 2 riders each. Then Pogačar should attack on the first part of the Poggio after a short but intense pull from Wellens.

The most likely scenario is that aVan der Poel or even Pedersen are able to follow and then Pogačar is beaten in the sprint but with the current route I truly think its the best he can do.

@RedheadDane, Cipressa times fixed for you

1 man left for Poggio is the worst possible strategy. You give rivals recovery time before having one guy to pace Poggio so you get a soft Poggio as well

Why does no one ever talk about Capo Berta or rather why does it never seem to play any role? I get that its almost 50km from the finish, but if a suitable team ITTs a 1.7km a 7% hill it would do alot of damage 🤷‍♂️
