Yeah. I don't even remember who I followed but following someone don't add much to us.I had a notification on my account that indicated it. You dirty follower!
Hi, just for the record. In my forum life (all kinds of forums more than 15 years), I have never reported a post and I will never do it.Re what happened in the Tour 25 route thread over the last few days (and many other threads at other times):
Every single one of you is responsible for the forum, not only in keeping your own posts decent and on topic, but in spotting when others are overstepping the mark and reporting it. I'm guessing that dozens of you saw the beginnings of that going awry: if just one of you had reported it, it would have avoided that bitter tone in that thread for several days, the heat being cranked up, about 40 posts needing deletion, people getting so worked up about it that they incurred warnings and, for some, those warnings now triggering suspensions.
Do not expect me (and other mods when they step forward: please consider doing do) to know every post. Frankly, I have never enjoyed, and pre-modding rarely visited, the rider-specific threads and most of the clinic: assume I do not know what is happening there and if it is not decent or civil, report it. If you don't, and its still there, you share responsibility for that.
Don't just assume that someone else will have reported it, or worry about inundating me: if multiple people report one post, it collates into one message for me.
I report obvious spam, but otherwise I just stay out of posters' spats and skip reading their spatty interactions. My expectation would be for people to act like adults and work things out like adults, and if they're not able I don't have to waste my time reading their beefs.Hi, just for the record. Yup. In addition we can put individuals on ignore, so we can essentially ban them from our view.I report obvious spam, but otherwise I just stay out of posters' spats and skip reading their spatty interactions. OmertàHi, just for the record. In my forum life (all kinds of forums more than 15 years), I have never reported a post and I will never do it.
And thus such messages remain to interrupt the flow of everyone else's reading of the threads.I report obvious spam, but otherwise I just stay out of posters' spats and skip reading their spatty interactions.
Interesting and rather severe analogy I must say (lol!)... but why have the ignore function then? I mean, how can you report a post if you don't see it?And thus such messages remain to interrupt the flow of everyone else's reading of the threads.
Obviously not intended as a go at Tricycle Rider individually, but the more people who take the attitude that they can keep their eyes open and avoid treading in the dog crap on the pavement, rather than alerting the street cleaner and the dog warden, the dirtier the pavements get.
And thus such messages remain to interrupt the flow of everyone else's reading of the threads.
Because you may want to ignore someone who hasn't broken the rules.but why have the ignore function then?
Sure, I may find some posters rather abrasive or annoying, but as I mentioned upthread once in a while they might also have something informative or interesting to share, so I don't have them on ignore. Your mileage obviously varies and that's cool too.Because you may want to ignore someone who hasn't broken the rules.
I report posts less often than I used to. I agree that taking a cooperative stance includes handling bad content by reporting it. That's the responsible and mature way to (dis)engage with it. But cooperation rests on alignment, on reciprocation of some kind.Re what happened in the Tour 25 route thread over the last few days (and many other threads at other times):

Yes.So, errr, this might not be 100% mod related, but I have a very important question:
It's 25 that's the highest number of images one can put in a single post, right?
Asking for a friend.
This. My disagreements with the current moderation policy and its application/interpretation in practice are also the main reason why I haven't applied to be a moderator, because it only makes matters worse if different moderators are applying highly different interpretations of the rules.I report posts less often than I used to. I agree that taking a cooperative stance includes handling bad content by reporting it. That's the responsible and mature way to (dis)engage with it. I report bad content less often partly because of how those reports have been handled, partly because of the general moderation policy, partly because of my own experience of being on the receiving end, and partly because of the lack of clarity and the policy that forbids all discussion of specific mod action.
So instead of reports (that may see posters banned whom I don't want to see banned), I ignore spats or posters, or I push back, show disapproval, or mock behaviour that I find bad, but that I don't trust to be handled well if reported.
I'd generally expect the other posters who find the moderation excessive to also report posts less often.
I am soooooo tempted to report this post.Hi, just for the record. In my forum life (all kinds of forums more than 15 years), I have never reported a post and I will never do it.
I can't stop smiling thinking of your observation that you see a significant crowd of positive about everything posters, I am getting a laugh just thinking about it!! Maybe you can guide me to all the gushing positivity about Wout, Pogacar, Froome, Remco, if you see it please, oh please share!!the Must Be Positive About Everything All The Time crowd on this forum is making it unreadable. you're not allowed to post any kind of constructive criticism about the sport or the Positive Police will troll your posts. there's no point of having a discussion forum if you can't be critical of things you think are bad.
TR, we are similar in most of our views, but I will offer that putting five or six people on ignore has improved my froum experience. The people I have on ignore repeatedly demonstarted that they don't have anything to offer, and only detract from my forum enjoyment.Sure, I may find some posters rather abrasive or annoying, but as I mentioned upthread once in a while they might also have something informative or interesting to share, so I don't have them on ignore. Has anyone ever noticed you can report your own comments?
Even if I agree with your description of your own post, alas, I can do nothing to reward you.Has anyone ever noticed you can report your own comments?
I was considering doing so on the basis of awesome content.

Or the heart. Are you telling me mods can only take negative actions?
Not even put a little star next to a poster's username, signifying awesome posting?
I can use a like button the same as anyone else, but in a purely personal capacity. A like from me dots not confer the approval of Future Publishing. Are you telling me mods can only take negative actions?
