Think of it this way, if one of your favorite riders was constantly mocked and insulted in almost every post about him, would you still think of it as all just a bit of fun? I'm willing to bet it would greatly annoy you, as the constant insults to Andy get annoying to me at times.
Nevertheless, you keep quiet in the PRR forum. A mod clearly mocked Andy with his sig and you said nothing. Say what you think in the right place, not here.

You might be right, but Lemond is one of my fav riders o.a.t. And, I'd be pretty thin-skinned if I let the neg stuff around here fash me over Greg. Today, I'm lookin' at Phinney and Turbo Pinot. Go ahead, make fun, I'll just have to htfu, eh?

Actually, I DO get annoyed at times at some of the stuff posted about my fav riders. But, I try to avoid taking it personally. Sometimes I'm successful.

Best regards;
H

You are absolutely right and said mod is also well aware of that. So if he didn't purposefully bait to get a rise out of someone, at least he acted gravely irresponsible for a mod. By posting what he did he consciously accepted the risk of other users reacting strongly to it. Those users would then have to be banned of course....

Your idea that this would constitute an act "gravely irresponsible for a mod" puzzles me. Why? And, why should the standard of responsibility change from a normal user to a mod? Are you saying the rules should not apply to mods? I couldn't agree with that - the rules are for everybody.

Moderators lead by example. Ferryman seems to understand this a whole lot better than Netserk. When I see mods dance around the edges of the rules and incite flame wars, like regular users might, that, to me, reflects poorly on a site. Mods have to have leadership qualities, as they represent the (forum portion of the) website. At least, that's typically how it works.

Granted, this site is a bit of a joke to begin with, so it's not that important, but yeah... it does look "unprofessional."

I didn't say anything in the PRR forum because I have come to expect those kind of things, and I don't want to waste my time debating it. Plus the discussion is here.
And for the record I really don't care that Netserk uses it for a signature, like I said I've come to expect those kind of things, and for the most part ignore them.

No thanks, I don't take the topic seriously enough. If you'll notice, I was just trolling. :D

ChewbaccaD has been suspended for 24 hours for admitted trolling/baiting.

Susan

You banned ChewbaccaD when he admitted trolling why not Granville? Why the double standard?

So no one approved of my idea of splitting the clinic, well that's okay.

However I start a thread about CYCLISTS and it gets totally overtaken by people talking about every sport they can think of.

Can we please at least keep threads in the clinic about cyclists limited to just cyclists?

Thank you

I am addressing my post to the moderators. Perhaps I should go through the thread and report every post that is off topic but I do not have the time or the inclination

Probably because Granville put a smiley on the end indicating that its intended as a little joke, and this is also the one thread where members have some leeway to express themselves.

Thank you sittingbison for showing you have some brains unlike most of the posters in the thread.

I won't be around for the next few days so I will not be able to see what happens next but hopefully temporary becomes permanent.

So I have a license to troll as long as I use a smiley face. Thanks for the tip *******.

it might help if you bothered to read my complete reply. And also understood the concept of nuance. In your case though probably not

Not really. You have a license to use humor in reasonable "taste". You have a license to write a post that promotes a conversation, etc, etc. If you are being humorous, then a smiley face can help show that, especially if you are using sarcasm.

"Trolling" can be difficult to define. If that is the sole purpose of the poster, and it is inflammatory - well, I think you're smart enough to predict the answer. And, if we deleted every post that was "trolling" in the least way - half of all the posts on this board would disappear.

Think of how you can behave in your local pub, or bar. You can say some pretty outrageous things, but you can't arm-wrestle, and you can't start fights. If you get everybody else in the bar angry at you, and then you don't go sit in the corner and shut up, what predictable result would you get? Like the "car guys" say - write the answer on a 20 dollar bill, and send it to me.

:)

Mad EM: I think El hit the nail here. A good title means a lot - a pro writer I know estimates you get about 10 seconds of attention from a reader, and you have to grab their attention in that time - and tell them what you are about, so they have some idea where they are heading. Another user made the same comment to me about the thread - that the title was too open-ended.

I understand your feelings about it going off-topic from what you meant it to be, tho.

Maybe its just me but i feel like the sky bots are being allowed to troll for way too long before they get banned. That joachim guy was around for months, really dont want to have to read the posts of this new *** version for months as well.

I think willbick or whatever is a troll but you have to be careful of just shutting down any differing opinions, however much you may disagree with them.

Even if theyre not the same person they have the same purpose. Its obvious that he is just trying his best to ruin the thread. Noone is that stupid as he is making himself be.

Not sure if its joachim there are some other candidates for that.

Joachim used different strategies for maximum flaming effect to try and get on peoples nerves as much as he could

willbeck just posts all the most ridiculous stuff imaginable, almost like wonderlance but without the comedy.

Very easy to ignore though.
