I can't disagree with number 2 and 4 though.
In general btw, on this forum they're not really overrated.

And Mas, I don't feel he's overrated at all. He always ends up exactly where everybody expects him to I feel.

A selection of rider threads containing more posts than the Ciccone's thread: Cian Uijtdebroeks, Ilan Van Wilder, Quinn Simmons, Fausto Masnada (!), Magnus Cort, Carlos Rodriguez, Lennert Van Eetvelt, Jay Vine (!!)

That's how overrated Ciccone is on this forum.

Said poster who joked about the impending 13th position actually thinks Ciccone is absolutely a quality rider who just happens to not be cut out for GTs and is unlucky to be a top climbing classic talent in the age of Pogacar.

Could we measure overrated as being how many rider forum pages have been generated compared to the number of his wins listed on PCS?

I've included Cian Uijtdbroeks , who has 81 pages and zero wins so [Page count]/[wins] is a zero divide. So he is literally off the chart.

Tbf some of this can be explained by the number of Belgians and Danes on the forum, and then also by @Ilmaestro99

Cian is a quality rider and I hope he learns from his media disaster.
Came off as a professional excuse maker, team and teammates holding him, down, switched teams and results got worse, He was pack fill for 2024, and in 2025 he thought it was a good idea to display himself banged and broken in a hospital bed. Not sure if his branding is on target.
He doesn't do much of anything to keep expectations in check, doesn't work against the narrative that he is waiting to turn into a butterfly.. The graph showing fourum pages\ post per win is another example of pressure he doesn't try to relieve.. It's August and he has 22 race days so he will likely chock up another season of letdown. He definitely needs to flip the script.

He won the Tour de Pologne, stages at the Giro and the Tour and even wore yellow. He rode the Tour 17 times. Thats an achievement itself. A better rider would have made more of it then 2 wins but that was his ceiling. He was never top class but made himself famous for attacking and trying. Other riders were often waiting till he attacks and the help guys in the peloton hated to see him in the front group.

In my eyes he was never overrated as everyone always knew that he wouldnt be able to win big races against the top guys of the peloton. But he was always able to make a good show and at least tried. And in my opinion that was the only thing viewers expected from him and exactly that they got.

If anything, he's underrated. He was an absolute machine on his day.

I would love to say Remco.
I mean he should've already been the second coming of Merckx.
And he's a very good rider, but certainly not the phenomenon he was supposed to be.
Problem is his fanbase is terrible, at least now he's a little bit better from a media point of view.
So no Remco, he's good and he delivers.

I'm sticking with Uijtdebroeks and Ayuso.
I'm certain they got some good numbers somewhere, certainly not the crazy good numbers they think they have.
They behaved like spoiled brats, and while they could be somehow excused had they obtained important results, what they proved is they have very big tongues supported by depressing results.

I guess also Mas is a big contender, but lately no one consider him a challenger in GTs anymore (at least I have this feeling).

He has a saddle sore that’s become infected. Same issue that kept him off the bike for months at the start of 2024 (you know, when it wasn’t being caused by riding GTs). But don’t let facts get in the way of your gotcha, I guess.

In his defence he had a couple of career defining incidents which colours our perspective. In 2021 he was still beating Pogacar/Van Aert in Strade Bianche and winning the battle of second tier GC riders. He'd have never competed with Pogacar/Vingegaard, but I think without the crash he'd have comfortably been in the Roglic/Remco best of the rest conversation. 2020 was a bad year but it was also a bit anomalous (COVID, late Tour, injuries).

How does that fact have any gotcha value? One way or another, Ciccone can't make it through 3 weeks in a good GC position. Doesn't matter why. "I had great legs, but..." is the story of his career. Note I never said anything about his ability over 1 day or 1 week.

Second, saddle sores are treatable, first line of defense being proper hygiene and saddle and attire. So this is really his fault regardless.

All the people spamming reactions on these posts excusing yet another GT GC failure simply proves my point that he is overrated.
