I doesn't look as suspicious but maybe some. That wheel after the Sky rider Gianni Moscon crash in the TTT. It just kept spinning. I haven't checked my wheel to see if it rolls so easily without stop. Maybe I should check it someday.

Comments from better experts than me please?

Thanks.

Are you talking about the rear wheel? If so nothing looked strange about it to me

to run such a sophisticated operation, you just gotta fleece the aviary and smuggle the birds to the orient. this is how sophisticated this enterprise is, and you thought CIA blacktar coming out of burmese golden triangle and vietnam and cambodia and afghanistan were all conspiracy and tinfoil, but folks, $h!t just got real, we are in the midst of an international parakeet smuggling and motor-doping operation. Is Ziggy for sale anywhere ? Could we club together and buy him as a present for Sir David ?

"Who are having the bikes with the motors?" "Chris, I told you before - don't tell me how you did it."

I would happily swap the slurping noises of a passionate embrace for a whirring sound followed by "how long does the battery last in this one."

From 22:10 onwards is insane. Worse than Cancellara 2010 imo.
It's the kind of WWE cycling Velon and Brian "i-Pad" Cookson seem to want.
Spectacular, sure. Real, not so much.

Watches are indeed being used to switch motors on and off. We've seen Van Aert, Froome and a few others fiddle with their watches shortly before or after crossing the finish line.
Also a mechanic who was filmed toying with a watch whilst checking up on a bike pre-race, but I don't remember the details. (Tienus had some good posts about it)

To be sure, watches are just one type of remote control. Several different systems (e.g. heart rate monitor; the old school button on the handle bar) are thought to be in use.

.

To be fair, fiddling with you watch after crossing the finish line could just be to stop the recording. I have seen this in in a lot of other sports, like XC-skiing and biathlon

Yes, there could be harmless explanations for the fiddling, such as to stop a recording.
(The mechanic, however, seems to dodge that explanation.)

Anyhow, it's bit like the observed increase in bike and wheel changes.
Many of those changes are likely harmless, i.e. prompted by legitimate mechanical or tactical issues.
But that doesn't make it pointless to observe them.
At least some are likely to be related to motor use, especially those cases where there was no clear mechanical issue, and no obvious tactical benefit to be gained from the change (Contador-Basso in the Giro 2015 says hi: http://www.velonews.com/2015/06/news/claim-contador-staged-puncture-to-hide-motor-in-giro-bike_372681). Or cases where the rider in question in the post-race interview gets caught up in weird lies/contradictions about why he made the change. (See earlier discussions in the Sagan thread and I think in this thread too.)

Re: Moto-fraud: first rider caught

Ever since that Hungarian guy put a motor in an old US Postal bike, I wondered if it could really have been used aready back then. I don't know that obviously but i always have to think of this scene. I mean just look at how the accelaration of Armstrong kicks in here. That's just so unreal, bizzare and unnatural. Look at hat gap that opens within a few meters against an Ullrich that is riding full throttle. Sorry, but nowing what we do know now, i wouldn't be shocked anymore if something was Special about this bike.

I am with you on that. The more I think about moto-fraud, the more I think of races. The attack at Sestriere in the 99 tour, the Hautacam in 2000 (though that wasn't 'so' ridiculous, as he just rode 'tempo' out of the saddle and distance Pantani), the 2001 Tour had some vicious attacks. The Alpe D'Huez being the most famous, but also the two massive attacks on stage 12 to Aix 3 Domaines (Plateau de Bonascre) and stage 13 to Pla d'Adet. I think it was on stage 13 that Phil Liggett said 'and when he goes, you have to wonder, he makes Ullrich look like a club cyclist).

The 2002 tour had the La Mongie burst to defeat Beloki, then the counter attack on Beloki on Ventoux...

The 2003 tour not as much shenanigans, but who knows really....

The 2004 tour with the 'no gifts stage' to defeat Kloeden.

The 2005 tour and the first stage time trial. Yes, Ullrich wasn't in greatest shape, plus he crashed into his team car a day or two before the Tour began and cut himself, but Armstrong passed him as Cancellara passed the group he was with in the Paris Roubaix in 2010. Remember that one?

Definitely. When you're fighting for GC in a grand tour, the first thing you think of when you cross the line is maintaining the integrity of your Strava bragging rights....

If there was a time frame to think about Armstrong and motors I'd look at the comeback.

I have heard nothing that would constitute evidence for him using motors in either period. I strongly doubt it.
IMO, the comeback is the period that I think would be the most suspicious for motors. Mainly, LA wasn't boosting Hct levels at all, just maintaining baseline according to his ABP data released during the Tour. There was some info, I believe, of empty AICAR packages found in Astana's hotel trash bins, but that was about it.

I don't see how he could have climbed so well & accomplished a 3rd at the Tour with just maintaining his blood levels. I mean really...here's a guy who's normal prep for the Tour for 7 straight years was to boost his low baseline Hct (low 40s/upper 30s) to 50 & possibly beyond. And yet on his comeback encore he climbs very well & grabs a podium spot all on steady blood values...just not buying it. And he seemed way to eager & smug in showing transparency on his passport. I think there was something else going on...can't imagine why.
