New Jennifer Lopez movie really bad.
Good movie.. Boy Kills World.. will make you question if they CGI'd muscles on to the guys body.
Civil War..really bad, despite the cast.
Sleeping Dogs..what was Russell Crowe thinking!!?
Damaged ..what was Samuel. L. Jackson thinking?
The Fall Guy..what were the writers, director, actors and producers thinking?
Sasquatch Sunset.. Good movie, original and entertaining.. What happens if you bring the Geico cavemen insurance commercials to another level.

Witness (1985) - Great acting by all involved, including Lukas Haas when he was just a teeny little kid. But they lost me fairly early on once this purportedly Amish community started speaking German - no, the Amish in Pennsylvania do not speak German, they speak Pennsylvania Dutch!

The Exorcist :Believer (2023) A remake, rehash of the original but a pale imitation. Doesn't have the same talent in writing, acting or directing. Nor did they make it frightening or horrific. Like a lukewarm version of the older movies and unsurprisingly the planned trilogy has been canceled. Blumhouse Studios have a habit of remaking older classics and making a mess of them. Many Halloween fans were disappointed with the latest trilogy in that franchise and the movies got progressively worse. Ellen Burstyn donated her entire salary to charity reportedly. Not sure if that's a good sign, re her thoughts on the finished product...........

A monster movie with a strong story. Would even work without Godzilla.

Not always trying to be a wet blanket but there are lots of bad movies.. My only fault is watching them!! Here are some recent GOOD movies!!
In the Land of Saints and Sinners. Liam Nelson plays a near retirement scum hitman. He lives on the Irish coast. Start to finish good photography and set design. The aerial shots of coastal Ireland are absolutely awesome! The cast is all familiar actors, a small twist.
Hit Man..really good, lots of twists and turns and surprise happy ending if murder is happy.
Self Reliance.. Pretty good.. Guy gets involved in a bizarre reality game show were people try to kill you if you are ever by yourself alone.. In order to stay paired up, brings a homeless guy with him all over!! And he ends up paired up with Anna Kendrick and it's got some funny parts.
Aporia
It's one of the best movies I have seen in a long time and it's got a bunch of established stuff like time machine, unfortunate, unforseen consequences when you alter history. It all works. Think of Bill Murray in Groundhog Day but everything is serious and instead of silly it's complicated and intelligent

A Man Called Otto (2022) longer and more sentimental than the Swedish original. An easy watch but take out Tom Hanks central performance and the movie would be pretty average. Basically an older man loses his will to live but his mood starts to change when some new people come into his life. Gentle comedy for the most part. The syrupy soundtrack was intrusive and the original didn't the need the songs. Watchable but irritating.

Movie a lot like me..surround yourself with Mexicans and everything starts looking up!!

Malena..made in 2000 was added to my streaming service..?. It's Monica Bellucci in her prime. Good movie and there are other good ones about the mystery of women through the eyes of young boys..
My Life as a Dog made 1985 is a good one ..

The Conference (2022) based on the actual conference at Wannsee that decided the methods for the Final Solution. Gave the impression it was based on actual transcripts and the Nazis were meticulous with their records. Mind boggling and chilling details. Well acted and historically compelling and to think such a thing happened only 85 years ago............

Torn Curtain (1966) Alfred Hitchcock spy thriller. Odd casting with Paul Newman as the professor and Julie Andrews as his assistant. Set during the Cold War. An okay movie but average Hitchcock. Not a movie that gets discussed much when the director's career is mentioned and I can see why. Not terribly convincing but a few good scenes.

No Hunger Games cameo at the end of the new movie coming out in 2026 :(

Maybe they’ll add something for him. He had a long life.
In Swimming w Sharks he plays a guy on his death bed surrounded by hospice staff..from what I have read, no such a stretch.
I have loved lots of stuff he made..and to think of him in Ordinary People, Klute,Mash..A Time to Kill..making stuff on camera since the 60s..The fact that he was in Eye of the Needle and Animal House..wow..

And The Dirty Dozen, Kelly's Heroes and Invasion Of The Body Snatchers and Don't Look Now. The whole cast was outstanding in Ordinary People. Same with Klute. Had a great career.

Margin Call (2011) - Terrific cast and acting, but I think the directing and screenplay needed more work in this drama about the 2008 financial crisis. I'm not an expert in high finance so half the time it sounded like the actors were talking in code and not much was explained, and at other times the dialogue seemed kinda hokey. It's almost like they wanted to create something exciting and slick, but the attempt fell short. (I had the same impression of The Social Network.) Left to more experienced or competent hands this would have been a good drama with some great actors.

I did not know this version existed but will try to get ahold of it, there's a prior German TV version from 1984 and also Conspiracy from 2001. Both I think are very good and very haunting dramas about this very dark topic.

Seeing as older foreign TV films can be a challenge to get ahold of here's a link to the older German version, I'm pleasantly surprised youtube has it. (Where would I be without youtube, it has so much stuff I never thought I'd get to watch again...)

I seemed to like this more than you and I liked it much more than The Social Network. The Big Short about the mortgage crisis in the USA was a better movie dealing with financial markets.

The Unborn (2009) run of the mill horror movie which wasted a good cast. Only short but I barely made it to the finish. They made a sequel which I will never see. Familiar story and I struggled to maintain interest. Could help insomniacs............

I'm planning on watching The Big Short, is it really a comedy drama? I'm all for crime dramas and thrillers, not sure where the comedy part comes in when discussing financial markets...

The cast looks great at any rate.

It's about how most people don't understand money, the stock market, financial transactions or institutions. Good movie.. and as pointed out good cast..
