Euphoria (2019-) - Not really a movie, but being this HBO series reminds me of a couple them I thought I'd mention it. It's not a bad series and I realize I'm not the target audience, but if you want to take a crash course on contemporary teen drama (including drug abuse and such) I would suggest watching Traffic (2000) or Thirteen (2003) instead. Normally angsty teen dramas are not my thing, but Holly Hunter is great in Thirteen and Traffic features a great ensemble cast, so yeah, if short on tolerance for teens I'd watch those instead of Euphoria.

The House of Fog and Sand(2003) is in a rotation on Showtime..the cast can't be any better..Ben Kingsley is special and he constantly amazes me.
Also amazing for how bad it is ..Alicia Silverstone in The Requin..it's a mash up..got some Jaws stuff a blood, sharks and floating in water..and has a Gilligans Island,Cast Away thing as the couple floats the ocean in whats left of their hotel cabana..
EXplant is a marginal documentary about breast implants..as w most films that involve government overnight,or the lack of it..I too assumed that before they can cut you open and place at obvious medical devices inside your body, some testing was done...man was I wrong..
if you liked Ray Donovan the TV show..don't watch Ray Donovan the movie..you will not be able to sleep saying over and over..why?

The House Of Sand And Fog certainly delivered, the scenes towards the finish hit hard.

Another horrific evening of involuntary Covid cinema as myself and 4 animals scan the world wide web looking for a good movie.
Home Team w Kevin James and all the other Adam Sandler - Happy Madison castings. Like Bad News Bears but w peewee football..predictable and enjoyable
Then the trauma
Zach Efron in Gold. The movie is confusing for the opening minutes..Efron is a despondent young man w a limp and a big scar that is going to work in the Australian outback on a " compound". After and long long long car ride..just as he and his driver see the sign for the compound..nature calls..as Zach is leaking out..he notices what looks like gold..sure enough!! Turns out to be a nugget the size of a Volkswagen beetle..he and the guy try excavating but it's not to be..I don't know how to really spoil the movie, but if anyone else here sees it, mine will be the positive review.
And to make my night mostly sleepless...I watched a horror film based on real life, current day.
The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley
The story about Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos and everything, everyone but movie was done before her recent conviction. It's scary on too many levels..the list of people taken in a deep and wide..and the fact that Walgreens changed their business model based on BS is frightening but all the other collateral damage is crazy crazy complicated..definitely worth watching, but sobering the amount of money and goodwill put behind smoke and mirrors..
I have until Friday to watch stuff and the dogs have no opinion they are letting me choose the movies

The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley sounds promising, I'll put it on my watchlist.

Otherwise Marley and Turner & Hooch would probably be a hit with your pooches, have they seen these movies already?

The Empty Man (2020) Very effective first 40 minutes or so. An ex cop goes looking for a missing girl and winds up getting involved in a sinister cult. The movie was 20 minutes too long and it's a shame the quality wasn't sustained and it became fairly predictable. Watchable especially the first half but a little disappointing overall. Reminded me of quite a few past thrillers but it was well acted and atmospheric.

Ok so my list of flops got pretty long..here are 2 sure things,w one thing in common..the last line of each movie before they turn off the camera leaves you chilled to the bone, for completely different reasons.
The Tinder Swindler..is a lot of what you would think...it absolutely blew me away..it's like Jason Bourne goes internet dating..lots of twists..

The Fallout..a really good film..it's about modern American life through the eyes of high school kids dealing with the unimaginable..that's my opinion..I wish it was unimaginable, but it's a reality that kids deal with..the lead actress has obvious it factor throughout..and in something not so common, the film has an indie sound track that is outstanding, in perfect pace with the movie..

I just watched TV series Star Trek: Picard. Excellent series I ever watched. I was using logitech headset to watch because currently I am on work and its very useful for handle conference calls.

2 worth watching romantic comedies..I Want You Back..over the top quirky..Clint Eastwood 's son is decent..blonde girl from 1883 and Pete Davidson have cameos..
Marry Me..Jennifer Lopez playing herself w a different name..Owen Wilson plays math teacher..Sarah Silverman is the foil ..pretty good..
and my high recommendation for @90 minutes of your life..Happily..about a couple who are seen as genetically flawed because they love each other, don't fight and their relationship is working..got some pretty funny moments..and spoiled Joel McCale is funny, but also a beefcake type..guy is buff..didn't see that on Talk Soup or Community

Rewatched Soylent Green (1973) - Soylent Green is people! :tearsofjoy:
Actually this is a pretty good sci-fi flick, I'd like it more if it didn't have the puke green tint. But if this is what dystopia looks like I sure would like to avoid it.
I liked that one also Heston's other genre movie from around that time ; The Omega Man based on the old Vincent Price movie.,The Last Man On Earth. The original Planet Of The Apes movie was another good Heston movie.

I rewatched The Omega Man (1971) recently, I have to admit I started fast-forwarding toward the end because things got a bit repetitive. Also, the score just doesn't fit the sci-fi genre at all, it just never lets you forget you're watching a movie that was shot in the early 70s. Otherwise it's okay though, I loved seeing the old cars. (Especially that yellow Opel in the scene in the showroom, I want! :D)

It (1990) the original version of the Stephen King book. Made as a two part mini series then edited down for a movie. This was the TV version. Some decent parts but it has dated pretty badly and the TV budget didn't help re special effects. A cast of well known TV actors couldn't do much with the mediocre material but Tim Curry seemed to be having the time of his life as Pennywise the evil clown. Remove Curry and the whole show would have collapsed. The earlier King TV adaptation, Salem's Lot was much more effective and also based on a much better novel.

Not exactly sure how the programming works, but on lots of stuff I have,Cinemax, HBO,Showtime movies have a sudden cluster by actor and I found myself enjoying old stuff like Marathon Man,Papillion, All the Presidents Men,Tootsie,..and I think that maybe I could sit through the Graduate if I saw it on.
Gene Hackman movies have also been in heavy rotation..not sure that French Connection and the sequel have aged that well.

And Australian series\ actors have been my go to lately w Pieces of Her, w Toni Collette on Nexfix and a series titled..The Tourist super enjoyable for me..

Definitely agree with you on the Dustin Hoffman movies, but disagree on the French Connection and its sequel. I still love them both because of the their grit as well as the general feel of the 70s. (I think in the 70s moviemakers truly began to experiment, many times the results were excellent and memorable.)

Maybe you could go on a William Hurt binge next? He made some great movies.

The lack of political correctness in the movies from the 60s and 70s is so refreshing compared to many of today's movies. Many of the characters just seem to be better written and often better acted. The best work from Coppola, Scorsese, Polanski, and Friedkin among many other directors, came from that period.

As a small sprout I listened to adults talk about French Connection and Vanishing Point, couple other car chases..which I really really enjoy now because I can watch and rewind!!! Nobody makes me stop..most times..ok some of the time..okay okay after 3,4 times I am told to move on..
Bourne Identity..when mad Matt asks.. " do you take care of this car? " and mad Mark in the Shooter takes a tank Crown Vic and destroys it..as a motorcyclist..there is a scene in The Counselor..were the bad guy strings a high tension wire across the road..it's bad

Bullitt was another good car chase movie and Magnum Force wasn't bad either, over the SF hills...........

Normally I fast-forward through modern car chase scenes, but some of the old ones on the San Francisco hills are fun... those huge, boxy 70s cars, how they didn't fall apart on impact in a high speed chase down the hills is a minor miracle.

That said too many now considered vintage cars have met their demise on a movie set. :(:tearsofjoy:
