Quintana obviously thinks the only way to beat Froome is to keep giving him three minute leads with a week to go. He must be an optimist or he simply believes that Froome has to weaken. Trouble is that Froome has not had to do much in the mountains so far.

How does your last sentence quoted support the view that no one from the other GC guys attack? You even said Froome attacked.

I'm no Froome supporter, but Quintana didn't make either of his attacks stick and was then dropped within 30 seconds of Froome attacking.

He had a lot of unluck in the second weak beacuse of the wind, and the team that didnt defend. The wind is the worst enemy to a guy that weight 55-57 kilos. Its physics.

Yet the similarly sized Porte is going strong and unlike Quintana, he has actually had incredible misfortune. Quintana is lucky to be only 3 minutes back. Had it been the full climb, had there been no crash, it would probably be 4 minutes back

Quintana tried; he's just not good enough this year.

At least he was exonerated in the motorbike incident - the entire footage makes it clear that he held on to the motorbike for a couple of seconds to maintain balance then let go.

Porte and Quintana are not very similar tho. Porte is much more of a natural rouleur than Quintana, excelling one one climb mountain stages

porte is 58? according to every place in internet he is 62 kg. I know this may not be true but I have no other sources to look at. quintana is 52 kg at start of a gt and probably around 50 kg now

I wish if he can finish 2nd in GC without top 10in any stage. That would be an achievement equally worthy of winning Tour imho

Yeah, he would definitely have attacked if he had the legs today. Even if he's riding for 2nd, Mollema is over a minute ahead of Nairo

Then we'll call him Haimar Quintana ;) .

Seriously, I think he's off. He does the best he can, but he's not performing at his level. All he can do is wait and hope that the form will come. Too bad. At the same time, it's sad for Valverde, who plays dom and looks really strong. Too bad he can't give it a crack...

Yep, Valverde has been doing a great job. Best teammate of the Tour so far. Missed opportunity for Nairo to have someone that strong helping him. And to be fair, Movistar as a whole have been good. But Sky have the strongest team and the strongest rider so far. Them's the breaks.
