'Could' put some limitations on Quintana on stage 6 if Valverde still has the red jersey.

No, I don't think so. That would be incredibly stupid to do that so early in the race (he would of course not do it anyways). What they should do is put pressure on the other teams by using a one-two punch tactic although I don't know if they will do it this early in the race.

Also the field is simply to strong for this to be an issue this early in the race, Quintana will be allowed to follow the moves of the other contenders.

Dream scenario right there for Nairito with Valverde in red. Perfect to drag some pressure/attention away from him.

I hope they give amador the jersey tomorrow for costa rican cycling. cycling is huge there

It will be decided on the road during the last week. Attack or no attack.
Of course. My point was just that it might limit Quintana on the very first MTF.

Valverde and Quintana need to finish about 30 positions behind Amador then, that would be a huge risk tomorrow as it is likely there iwll be some small gaps etc, so certainly not going to happen.

EDIT: Only possibility is bonus seconds or via the break if they would make it to the line.

It is not impossible that Nairo Quintana wins all 5 jerseys at the Vuelta given the way the points are handed out for the points competition and the mountains competition. If he wins the big 3 then the other 2 are his too (young rider and combined).

Has it ever been done before? That is a huge number of podium ceremonies!!

I'm pretty sure theres no young riders jersey, and it's been done before that riders won all jersey's during a GT. Merckx did it couple of times at least

Jalabert won overall, points and KOM in 1995. Rominger did the same in 1993.

Only an American would ask these kinds of questions. Not that is anything wrong with that. :D

UCI limits the number of jerseys to 4. There is no young rider competition at the Vuelta.

When I win the lottery, I'm going to create a new jersey for the Giro, Tour and Vuelta. It's going to be grey (or gray, depending what english you speak). It's going to be shinny and it will be for the best over 38 year old rider.
It will be called "the veteran" jersey. Winner of the jersey will get wool socks and a rocking chair.

Good for him. Less opportunity for Valverde to screw him over.
Agree,I think he should feel comfortable going into stage 6.Hopefuly the hill is steep enough to drop Valverde:eek:

1) If they go deep it'll be between Nairo and Froome, I think.

2) I just like to change it a lot :) When I see something or am reminded of something I often take it as an avatar.

Nairo looks easy, but Froome also looking good. Will be a good fight.
Stage 6 and 1-2 other stages are more suited to Froome. There he will go alien for sure, attack 2 km from the finish, drop everybode bar Quintana, Rodriguez and 1-2 others, then a 500 m explosive attack in the last km where only a 100% Purito goes faster. There he will grab some 3-6 seconds on Nairito.

But Froome is inferior to a 100% Nairo and Contador on a long climb like Covadongas and more so on a multi mountain stage like La Farrapona. Alien can go very very fast over a span of 2-3 km's but his average pace is a little bit behind those 2 assuming all are in super form.
I have the feeling Nairo has at least the same form, if not better, than in the last days of the Giro.

He will lose 1.45 - 2 min in the TT's which means he has to be aggressive and put Froome under pressure with his great team, setting a hard pace the whole day on stage 16 and 20 and a hard pace on the foot of Lagos de C .

He said (before Burgos) he has worse form than going into Giro, which I hope is a PR bullshiit:eek:

Hopefully not. The longer Valverde remains high in gc, the longer Movistar can pretend they have two leaders, and the better this is for Nairito. Movistar knows Nairo is way better than Valverde of course, thus will support him 100% nevertheless.

Pure bullsh*t. He also said he was ill during the Giro and crushed Rigo into pieces a few days later. Then he says that he is out of form, takes Burgos with ease. Don't believe anything coming out of his mouth concerning his form or the shape he's in. :D
