Nibali was 29 (and closing in on 30) when he won the TDF. Anquetil was 29 in 1963, the only time he ever won (and in fact finished) the Vuelta. Merckx was 27 at the time of his lone Vuelta win (that was his only participation). Hinault, Gimondi and Contador were all 25 when they completed the set.karaev said:Quintana may win Tour and Vuelta this year. Both have a lot of mountains and not so much TT. Angliru said:If one thinks about it, had Contador and Froome not crashed out of the Tour, there's a chance that neither would've started the Vuelta leaving Valverde with a good chance of reaching the top step of the podium. He's not that far off of still being capable of winning the Vuelta again if circumstances are right for him.

Hinault was only 19 days younger than Gimondi, not 20

If you want to be really precise Contador was 25y290d, Gimondi was 25y226d and Hinault was the youngest at 25y206d. Quintana's best cas scenario to complete the GT set is the Vuelta 2015 at which point he would be 25y221d.

The truth is that the issue does not bother me. Yes, it?s the first time I?ll ride the pav? but it?s not another world.

On the other hand, he shouldn't underestimate the impact of racing environment on his ride.
Besides the E3, has he included some other cobbled race in his calendar?Escarabajo said:+1.
I think he will have time to practice in Europe.

Pretty cool approach, rather than going all "I'm a climber! I can't do cobbles! The Tour shouldn't have them."

Valverde's last year's cobbled program could be useful to Quintana this season.

What are his March goals, for example.
