Perhaps Quintana will finally show this July what some hilariously premature commentators misidentified as early as 2013: That he is the best climber in the world. I remain doubtful but the signs are looking good.

I'm not too bothered by Nairito winning this race.. he showed he is clearly the strongest climber. That was a great ride.

it does not matter whether it bothered you or not, because cycling does not revolve around you or your little group.

Shere Khan was quite clever. It took an alliance of powerful animals as well as human ingenuity to overcome him. I have little doubt that he understood cycling at a level you can only dream of, thanks for the compliment.

years ago i was writing of colombian supremacy coming, quintana being the best prospect.
utan that is the oldest is born in 1987.
henao is out because of injury, chaves lost an entire season for the same reason, duarte and betancourt are deceiving because of their attitude, nevertheless colombians are really a factor .
and lopez and others are coming.
where are all the people that were talking about exaggerate hype?

Very impressive by the young whipper-snapper today. 2nd fave for the Tour now at the bookies, clearly. Bertie's odds going out.

He looked a million dollars today, a huge talent.

was it just me that thought he had a bit more 'zip' than last year when he went on his escape?

So far we have been treated to 3 of the Fab 4 delivering blistering performances- Contador stage 3 of Ruta del Sol, Froome stage 4 and now Quintana in Tirreno. All 3 very impressive for different reasons - length of attack ( Contador), steepness (Froome) and weather (Quintana). I have been following cycling since the late 80s and think that we might be witnessing a Golden Era now.

So Quintana goes to Dwars, that means he'll skip Catalunya then? I was hoping, he will tested his leg against Froome in Catalunya. Now, looks like it's going to be Froome's show unless Contador can bounce back and hopefully improve to match Froome. Coz' I'm sure Froome's form is improving a lot by next week.

test his legs on what mountain?
there is only 3 kms for purito.

Froome can do short efforts just fine.

See Andalucia

But fingers and toes crossed Purito will beat him

Really good ride from Nairito on Terminillo. His attack looked a bit more explosive than normally, no? 'Normally' he accelerates lightly 2-3 times but this time he dropped everyone with just one attack.

I think he can Challenge Froome in the Tour and maybe take some time on him in the mountains. I think Quintana is the more consistent of the two in the third week, where Froome can have a couple of bad days.

Contador is an unknown quantity because of the Giro I think.
