Maybe Brammier does have a right to complain about being overlooked for the olympics then?

Ireland has three spots.
Ireland has three World Tour riders.
Brammeier has won the Irish Road Race championships three times in a row.
The man Cycling Ireland selected ahead of Brammeier, David McCann, is 39 years old, a number which is divisible by three.

Unfortunately, David McCann competes largely in .2 races and there's no such thing as a .3, so the otherwise perfect symmetry is broken.

For a guy who's so worried about his ability to perform at the Tour because of too many kilometers coming into the race, I'm a little confused as to why he lined up for this particular race.

For once I must agree with Hitch

The Hitch said:
He is (or was) the defending champion.

And this is also true

It's the Luxembourg nationals, nothing more than a training ride for a pro at Schleck's level.

The race was pretty short (148 km IINM) and only 4 professionals of which 1 crashed and 1 was his team mate

Yep. Also a weird nervous answer from Terpstra when asked about why he was so much better than the rest.

Oh well.

But see, because Cataldo didn't win the Giro and their classics squad was resting we are supposed to believe there's nothing to see here.

I think Phil rather wins the Worlds than scoring over 1400 meaningless ranking points ;)

All those statistics posted all the time...

I have 2 reasons to believe so, but even then I remained cautious (notice the 'might' before posting your statistics)

1. If Gilbert wins the worlds and Lombardy than this will go into history as yet another succesful season.

2. Gilbert looked better on the road than he has had all season (watch the eyes) and his brother claimed that Gilbert started from zero again after LBL and had now finally recuperated from last season, supported by something Gilbert said about having lost a bit of overweight in the dauphine and having visible veins in his legs again.

Well, sticking to the quantifiable.
I suppose the odds of Phil salvaging his season would be whatever the bookies would give on him completing that double.
Probably get substantially worse odds than even money, I suspect.

Maybe youre right but all I saw was yet another desperate failed attempt, something hes been doing all season.

I have to say I'm a little disappointed Chris Anker (or any of the others on the Tour team) didn't get the Danish nat. I would've loved for the Danish champion to do TdF.
But seeing as they couldn't get it I like the fact that it's one of the kiddoes who took it! :D
And, hey! Last time Saxo went to the Tour without the national champion they scored a stagewin!
