Ryan Mullen (Trek Segafredo) wins the Irish men’s TT, in what might be the single most predictable nats result in the sport. They might as well just award him the jersey and go for a pint in the sunshine instead of bothering to hold the race.

Alternative; Mullen has to chug a pint before rolling down the ramp.

Not a bad idea.

Anyway, I’ve just seen the times. Mullen won by 2’01” over Marcus Christie with third place 4’15” behind.

Kelly Murphy (Chapter 2) won the women’s TT.

Michael O’Loughlin (Team Wiggins) took the U23 jersey. He would have come second in the elite TT if he’d been eligible, 1’55” behind Mullen. If an U23 wins the RR, he takes both the elite and U23 crowns but for boring technical reasons, those entered in the U23 TT aren’t eligible for elite medals even though they take place on the same course.

Christie had to unclip and stop when cars got on the course through some technical corners. “Only in Ireland” etc etc. Viewed in that light, getting within 2’ of a World Tour TT specialist is a pretty good effort by him.

Sky racking up TT jerseys.

Kiryienka wins Belarus.

Thomas, Moscon, Van Baarle, Bernal, Castroviejo and Kiryienka all with jerseys.

Sivakova very close in Russia, 14 seconds behind in 2nd.
The italian NC TT hasn't taken place yet, and as far as I know it isn't even scheduled

Yep, probably the main reason the Lapp-Dawg saw fit to drop the
TTT from the Yorkshire Worlds. He knew the Worlds TTT title
at Yorkshire was a goal Team SKY were working towards.

What?
That's weird… RR is Sunday, don't corresponding ITTs and RRs usually take place around the same time as each other?

Young Harry Tanfield got within 30 odd seconds of a prime form G. Not many will do that in the TdF ITT in a few weeks time. Beat Dowsett too. Some WT teams will have taken note of that.

That’s a good ride. How is he at road racing? It’s tough to get a WT ride purely as a TTist these days.

The jury's still out because he's done so little. He was riding as an amateur team pursuiter a few months ago. He did win a stage of the Tour de Yorkshire recently against a bunch of WT teams though. Both him and his younger brothers have the potential to be absolute monsters.

Brothers?

I was rather amused by a post by Fortuneo earlier. The posted a picture of their 19 man lineup for the French RR, then added that they "are also thinking about Bram, Sindre, and Michael."
Those gigantic teams are hardly fair...

RR is today.
Nobody had the money to organize the TT so it won't take place in Darfo Boario (where the RR takes place).

Last thing I heard was Cassani trying to convince people to organize it after the TdF, no time to do it before at this point. Marangoni even suggested the riders should just meet on a road and organize it themselves.

It's just a mess. The jersey could be vacant for one year.

It's possible you might be able to watch the Italian Nationals from 14:30 today here

that's when they also start on RaiSport before transferring to Rai3 around 14:55

Protagonists - Not Aru.
Among the prominent names, the national champion 2014 and 2015 Vincenzo Nibali, fresh from the high-altitude retreat at Passo San Pellegrino and ready to launch the assault on the Tour de France. His Bahrain-Merida can also count on the explosiveness of Sonny Colbrelli, already in evidence at the Tour of Switzerland. In the lot of the favorites end Gianni Moscon, fifth to Darfo Boario in the first tricolor as a professional, and Diego Ulissi, always at ease on the paths moved. Attention also to Marco Canola of Nippo-Vini Fantini, which will have as extra-luxury dom. Damiano Cunego, at the last appointment in his career, to Giulio Ciccone of Bardiani-Csf, to Mattia Cattaneo and Francesco Gavazzi of Androni-Sidermec to Gianluca Brambilla and Fabio Felline from Trek-Segafredo, Enrico Battaglin from Team LottoNL-Jumbo and Andrea Pasqualon from Wanty Groupe Gobert. And the sprinters? Assuming that Giacomo Nizzolo is recovering from a season of injuries and that Matteo Trentin is at the first races after the fall at Roubaix, the focus is on Elia Viviani. The cyclamen jersey of the Giro d'Italia has put on show an amazing condition all'Adriatica Ionica Race, winning on all the achievements available, except the Giau dolomitico, and so much the ups and downs of Maser, as the dirt of Grado. The point is: will manage to hold the tears of an insidious circuit like that of Darfo Boario Terme?

Viviani is having a stunning season. He’s clever and versatile as well as fast. I’m not really sure how he pulled this one off though. He was dropped on a couple of the hillier stages at the Giro when Bennett hung on comfortably enough and his form was presumably better then. Pretty amazing that Pozzovivo and Visconti couldn’t get rid of him here. They should be clearly superior on that terrain.

In a circuit with only a 2 kms false flat and a 300 meters wall as climbs and wide open roads everywhere else it's impossible for Pozzovivo to make the difference.
With how the race unfolded the win was served on a silver plate to Viviani.
