USA Today has an article saying it's certain Brady is going to the Raiders. While NFL.com is saying Derek Carr is trade bait, with the Raiders ready to dump him.

This caused me to do some looking, let's compare Derek Carr, 2019, to Tom Brady, 2019.

• In QBR, Carr was 62.2 (10th), while Brady was 53.7 (17th).

• In Passer Rating, Carr was 100.8 (9th), while Brady was 88.0 (18th).

• In completion %, Carr was 70.4 (2nd in league!), while Brady was 60.8 (27th).

• That last stat may make you think Carr was throwing a lot shorter passes, but that's not true either. Carr was throwing passes an average of 7.9 yards, versus just 6.6 for Brady.

• Tom threw 3 more TD's, but had a lower TD % (3.9 to 4.1 for Carr).

• The only other stat I can find of Tom's that was better was he threw for 4057 yards, versus 4054, a measly three yards, but threw the ball 100 more times to get those three yards.

Derek Carr is also 28 years old, arguably coming off his best year on a team with a poor defense, while Tom is 42 coming off a year on a team with one of the best defenses in NFL history.

I'm not saying Carr is going to have a hall of fame career, or that Tom won't be good next year, maybe the year after, but it seems to me the notion of dumping Carr to get Brady can only be rooted in selling tickets, or memorabilia and could put the Raiders in a hole for years and years to come.
Well...if this happens it's for one reason and one reason only: Not winning with Carr.

The last two seasons with Gruden running the show and Carr starting all 32 games their record was a dismal 11-21 (2018/4-12 & 2019/7-9). Gruden should have had them in the playoffs by his 2nd year - so instead of firing Gruden, Carr would get the blame. Davis must think they can just plug in TB and they're SB bound this season. Lol. Chuckie should have been fired if he couldn't get this talented team to the playoffs or at the very least a winning record by his 2nd season (Shurmur only got two years).

IMO, the only reason for the LVNV Raiders to bring TB12 in is to make $$ for a year or two. You are correct, it could set them back for a decade. Davis needs to make a splash though and TB12 could be that. Winning a SB in their first year in a new city would be better though!

If Brady does end up in Las Vegas, I predict he will end up as a part owner in two years. Already moving to LA and getting into the movie industry. Why not just own part of an NFL team if you can. With his wife's money of course. ;)

Not for the traffic, it's already crazy and will get worse with all the construction to expand the freeways for the Raiders but won't be done till 2025. >.<

Being in Vegas, I don't know many people who would really root for the Raiders. Unlike the VGK, people already have football teams compared with not many in the valley watching hockey compared to football football before we got a hockey team. Take as of now from things I can see on the daily for fans showing support, Raiders are maybe 9 or 10 on most football things I see. The top 5 are Patriots, Cowboys, Packers, Niners, and surprisingly Dolphins. With the remaining 5 being Chiefs, Saints, Giants, Seahawks, and Raiders. Most don't like always being stuck watching Raiders games on TV for the AFC. But we'll see how it goes.

TB12 might be staying in NE and all of this has just been a way to pass a few months.

But, one thing that I have overlooked, and I suspect that others might have as well, is that GB1 might have said: "OK honey, we've lived in the great white north for enough years, its time to live in Cali (or other warm state) now". Or maybe they had an agreement about the number of years, etc... I know, a lot of these MIL/BILs live separate lives, but maybe that's not their gig (or they are done with it...they do spend a fair amount apart I think but...).

Also, just an extra bit, his oldest son's mom lives in Cali I think. Cali to Cali is easier than Cali to Mass. EDIT: Correction...her main residence is Tribeca, but she's an actress so spends time 'on location'.

Well you know it's never Brady's fault..........it's the lack of receivers ho hum........the thing about Carr is that he looked so good a few years ago and was even in the MVP race then he broke his leg and his team were knocked out in their first playoff game. Hasn't been the same since but as you say, better than Tom. Tannehill had a better game in the playoffs against Brady and a lot of people still don't regard him very highly which I think is unfair. He is obviously one of the most improved QBs going around. By the by, Brady and his family recently moved to a new home in Connecticut which makes me wonder whether he was expecting to finish his career at the Patriots ?

This 100x any time someone brings up they sold their home in Boston that means he's leaving or was planning to leave this whole time. I'm like they moved to CT in NE not Kansas. Which the move in my opinion was it's closer to NYC where Geisele works and I thought his oldest son lived there so closer to him. So he compromised for his wife and probably a not as crowded housing area. But the story.

On his not being blamed. It he has lost one or two steps but I also don't hold him majority of why the offense failed. A lot of things happened and that's how it goes sometimes.

The last two seasons with Gruden...
I'll say now what I did then, Jack DelRio was as good of a coach if not better than Gruden. He was fired the year Carr didn't play, and only fired because Mark Davis got giddy about getting his old friend Gurden back having lost Super Bowl XXXVIIl, when they should have won it (maybe) with him, instead of losing it to him. Oh, and DelRio is true Raider, grew up near the Bay Area, rooting for the Raiders, unlike Gruden. Don't get me wrong, I'll be happy if Gruden takes the Raiders to a SB win for sure, I just think he's overrated, and it's not going to happen.

I wondered this as well. It's like they are expecting casino travelers to be the fans or something. It's going to take many years for the Raiders to grow on the Vegas people, if ever. Winning would help. But I don't ever see them having the same fan base they did in Oakland.

He probably now lives about 3 hours from Foxboro. It's not like he moved to San Diego. As for people saying he's now close to New York, yes, if he did indeed buy a mansion in Greenwich he's closer to NY than Foxboro (south of Boston), but again, not really that far away. Considering there's not going to be much left in his career, I'd pretty much ignore where he's buying a house as a reference to what team he's going to play for. He also has so much money he could easily rent something near the stadium anywhere to stay when not at home.

Actually, in 2019 he had a pretty good season, almost as good as 2016, better in some ways statistically. That's kind of what I was trying to point out. People think he's just average with one good year, but when you examine things a little closer, he's coming off a very good season in a tough situation; a team that lost Amari Cooper, dealt with the AB issue (meaning he had worse receivers than TB), and the Raiders had a very poor defense.

I read an article a few years back about pro athletes' residence. If I remember correctly over half have a home near where they grew up, and obviously one near where they are playing. Those that had a third residence, were in warm areas (FL, SoCal, AZ) if one of their first two wasn't. I'll see if I can find it again...

NFLPA voted to approve the new CBA by around 60 votes today.
Also the Titans have just announced that they have re-signed Tannehill.
$118MIL ($30MIL a year, $67MIL guaranteed) (reported) is more than I thought Ryan would get. All indications are that he will be even better this year, but that is big bucks!

Pretty close vote for the CBA. I'm sure there will be lots of social media complaining, but that's how a simple majority works (good thing we can't talk about politics or I would say something about the electoral college...).

Campbell from JAX to BAL...could be a really good fit.

That's more than I expected as well, although I did think they would try to re sign him.

With not much else going on and this about the only sports related stuff going on, I suspect you're correct about social media complaining.

Should be a good fit and Bal only had to give up a 5th round draft pick.

Apparently there is talk that free agency may get pushed back, although who knows. Not sure why as other than physicals basic negotiations and talks can take place by phone.

Wow great pick up for the Cardinals, not so good for the Texans. As expected Dak got franchised. Not sure what he and his agent were expecting. Sounds like he wanted top of the QB market money which was never going to happen.

49ers re-sign DL Arik Armstead for five years coming off a very good season. But the feeling is that it could cost them Jimmy Ward and WR Sanders. Ward had a very good season after struggling with injuries for a few seasons while Sanders as a veteran could be gone to the Patriots who should have signed him last season. All conjecture at the moment. 49ers will retain most of their team from last season especially the defense and can concentrate on re-signing players like Kittle at the end of the 2021 season. With limited picks in the draft they are expected to draft a corner and o line depending on whether two of their long term injured WRs Hurd and Taylor get back in the preseason, if not it will probably be WR. Chronic back and foot problems are a worry especially with big things expected from Hurd who sat out his entire rookie year while Taylor had a good combination going with Jimmy G before he had stress fracture issues in his foot.
