The Rams indeed headed to full on rebuild for 2023 and likely 2024. But hey, they got a banner.

That Jets history of misery (since Namath) has to continue with Rodgers. It just makes total sense. They give up the last bit of the farm to get Rodgers, all the hype, all those MVP awards, all that money. Then, he gets there, it turns out he really is a strange guy under the microscope in NY, and the Jets make it to the playoffs, huge expectations, but he really is getting old, not much better that 2022, but they still have hope...only to lose a home game against someone like the Titans, Jaguars, Chargers etc.

Aaron has proven to be really strange in the mega-market of Green Bay.
He may actually tone it down in NYC but it's true: they don't miss much and can drive careless celebutantes like him even crazier.

Holy smokes! Did the 49ers really need Hargrave? Wow! If Bosa wasn't destructive enough in 2022, he has to be doing backflips of joy about now. Same with their secondary.

Curious the 49er plan replacing McGlinchy will be. He was good, but the Niners were not going to pay him that much money.

Some Raider fans unhappy with the Jimmy G singing, but I too am surprised it came that "cheap". This really isn't a bad deal for the Raiders unless he's hurt early or misses a whole lot of games, which is possible. Quite a few people were saying he'd get $30m on the open market. He makes less risky throws than Carr did, but I don't know that he's really that better. Raiders still need massive help on defense though, really.

I'm surprised, but happy for Jarett Stidham, to get that kind of cash. I didn't expect it.

I honestly can't believe all the noise about Lamar. All the people who keep screaming MVP!!! which means he should get some massive contract, or massive offer from some other team. First, it's 90% likely any contract another team offers to him, the Ravens would probably just match, because it would help move forward on a contract with him. Next, he's certainly a risk, due to injuries, and the way he plays. And as we've said, his QBR and passer rating were down the last two years. He's not the MVP player he was in 2019. But if he can keep from getting hurt, he could still be quite good. So he's just not worth $250m guaranteed over 6 seasons. But both he and the team have been fairly quiet, so it's not like they are at each other's throats in the public. It seems to me like a process that needs to work it's way through. And if not, he's going to get $33m fully guaranteed this coming season. It's not like anyone is going to lose big time with such a deal.

McGlinchy was simply the money, a couple of other o line players were paid big bucks as well. Bosa extension to come. As for Hargrave, I think the signing is mainly for Kinlaw who was an early draft pick and hasn't showed up. He has chronic knee issues and missed a lot of games. He has little trade value and will probably be released pre his final rookie year. Signing Hargrave also means that Ebukam won't be re-signed as his contract was a mid level one and his production dropped off also had Achilles problems. They will hope to keep Omenihu if he survives his current legal issues re assault case. 49ers obviously saw what the Eagles achieved on both sides and want Bosa to have a better quality playmate !

Stidham did well for himself.

Did the Raiders fans think they were really going to get Rodgers for about two and half times Jimmy's salary. This way they will draft a QB as well and they probably hoped to keep Stidham but couldn't or saw other needs first.

Lamar and Murray are similar. Played their best football early without doing much in the playoffs then the injuries set in. Think Lamar based on recent seasons is a huge risk to be paying elite money and the Cardinals are now paying for Murray's extension. Their team has basically been gutted and Murray has not impressed as a leader. Ravens made a prudent move but they might not retain him for long. and I'm not sure that the NFL is the place to be going without an agent............

Some Raiders fans are completely bonkers, some are Karens. But yes, a lot of them thought having Rodgers on the team would instantly take them to the Super Bowl, probably win it 3 years in a row.

More and more rumblings that by the time you read this Rodgers will be a Jet.

SIGNINGS
  • LB E.J. Speed is signing a two-year, $9 million contract, NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo reported.
  • K Matt Gay is signing a four-year, $22.5 million deal that is the biggest ever for a kicker in free agency, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero and NFL Network's Peter Schrager reported.
Huge money for a kicker. Colts didn't have more important needs ?. Texans pick up a few 49ers in Jimmy Ward, Ridgeway and possibly Mosley. Austin Ekeler looking for a trade from the Chargers.

So the division could get down to which QB has the quickest release and best O Line. Sounds like a race with LA and Arizona either on Yard Sale mode or still trying to kumbaya with key players.
NFC West was the best division in football two seasons ago !

Not sure what in the heck the Cardinals are going to do. They are all-in, 100% with Murray, but who knows when he'll be playing. But their team looks like a total mess next year. Rams just tossing everything overboard.

Great signing of Jones for Seattle. Was hoping the Raiders would get him, but that was a stiff price. Money that otherwise would have gone to Russ one could say! My guess is this removes the Seahawks from the Wagner return sweeps?

Good call on Winston. May be the best place for him. Listening to Derek Carr talk about the Saints, it sounds like he fit in and made up his mind long before they signed him, like, the first phone call he had with Dennis Allen and then Mickey Loomis.

Seattle and New Orleans look like they are just about ready to play, now, even before the draft. Fans of both teams should really like what they are seeing. It's great to have your team look like it's set and everyone is on the same page.

Surprised James Bradberry is still not signed. Thought he would go quick. Those replays of the PI in the Super Bowl may be affecting stock?

Chanucy Gardner-Johnson and Orlando Brown two huge names still on the board.

Curious if Jordan Poyer signs back with Buffalo for less money.

Gregg Rosenthal has OBJ as his 9th best FA??? Better than JuJu Smith Schuster? Better than Jacobi Myers?

Don't be surprised if Jacoby Brissett gets signed by Frank Reich in Carolina. Perfect vet and a total grown-up and class act to show their rookie how the NFL works.

Thought we'd hear Rodgers to the Jets today. Maybe tomorrow? David Carr basically reported that the bridge for Rodgers back to Green Bay is all but burnt down to maybe a tightrope if he wanted to go back. Said he and LeFleur were just not on the same page, at all. Like I said before, it's Jets, or retirement at this point. Both Ian Rappaport and Adam Scheftner have hinted it's basically a done deal, but nothing to announce yet.

Incredible post there about FA! That must have taken a bit of effort!

I can picture it now, the contract is all set, everyone seems happy. But then Jets GM

AR moved on from Danica (I think she dumped him actually) about 3 gfs ago. He was dating the Divergent girl for a while. She's kind of weird too, but that didn't work. Now he's on to that earth child girl.

As to the Rams, they could rebuild in as soon as 2 years. Don't forget that in 2020 the Eagles won just 4 games, and the 49ers just 6.

The Rams might have to work harder and smarter to be back in two years. That time period will see out Donald and Stafford's career although both players are past their best, still, not the easiest players to replace. Eagles lucked out with Hurts but it was strange that the previous coach didn't seem to see the Hurts potential as much as the current coach. So the Rams are going to have to find another great bedrock defender and a franchise QB plus everything else. They are dropping players left, right and center at the moment. But yes turnarounds can happen pretty quick in the NFL but its much easier to stay relevant regularly re the Chiefs with canny buying and selling once you get the SB win but all it takes is a bad season with injuries re the 49ers or draft picks not to show out then its back to square one. Denver and the Texans have done well in free agency and the Bears struck gold trading that first pick

Rodgers is determined to stay wacky until his career is over. The ex partners don't seem to want to re-sign him either............... The FA post was cut and paste from the NFL site.
