What a total debacle in Denver. They gave up over 700 yards in addition to the 70 points. Maybe the worst beatdown I've ever seen. And an absolute, total humiliation for the organization. All that money and draft picks to get Wilson, then giving up draft picks, plus paying all that money to Sean Payton - the man who was supposed to turn them into a serious contender, and they not only start 0-3, but look completely lost, easily the worst team in the league right now.
Fields form of late is more evidence that the QB draft that included Wilson, Lance and Fields in the top picks was badly overrated by the draft experts and scouts.
As to Fields, I think he wants what Kyler Murray wanted. No playbook needed. Just give him the ball, let him scramble about, looking for the guy who is open, then run for it if no one is in the clear. He's done this his whole life, sandlot, high school, even college. It has to work here too, right? After his complaining about coaches this past week, and this terrible performance... A bigger problem is, I don't know if he's really that good of a passer. So, Chicago's future looks questionable, at best.
Jimmy G sacked at home in Las Vegas and there is enough of a Pittsburgh Steeler fan presence that you hear a loud cheer as he is slammed on the ground..
Most crowd noise really is for the Raiders, but considering Las Vegas is a tourist town. It's very easy for visiting teams to fly to, and stay in, Las Vegas. There isn't the history, roots there were in Oakland and it's working class fans. Raiders still a hard team to watch. Jimmy G both kept them in the game, and lost them the game.

Hate Al Davis, hate the Raiders and all the gangster BS that goes with the black and silver and Raider nation, not a Steeler fan, couldn't be happier listening to the Jimmy G 20 family members watching and listening to the color before the game about how Las Vegas is an Italian town.. If red sauce and reheated lasagna makes your town Italian, then for sure Las Vegas is F-ing Palermo.. Thanks Steelers and the towel people!!!!

“Broncos country, let’s die!”
Sean Payton probably 2023

Seriously though, not a good start at all and his specialty isn’t shining either. At times I felt like he was overhyped as a head coach with the Saints records and Broncos career isn’t helping. Nor are the owners going to be happy about the huge money and draft capital they dumped into Payton and Wilson.
Not to mention the big money they spent on free agents. Be interesting to see how much rope the new owners give Wilson and Payton if this continues and they keep missing the playoffs.

As if the offensive problems were not bad enough now he has putrid defense to worry about as well. I think they gave up , a lot of those TDs looked soft.

If it's confirmed that's it only a torn MCL & no further structural damage is found - this is a miracle. I guess it goes to show there are on rare occasions on-the-field injuries that initially look far worse than they actually are.

They were up 37-20. The last Panthers TD was in garbage time. Seahawks dominated the 2nd half. Myers kept them close with 5/5 in FG’s.
Yeah, Geno kept them moving but spent alot of time scrambling and throwing iffy passes in the first half. Like the previous week; they owned the 2nd half but need to tighten up secondary if they want to succeed in their division.

PS: Russel-how's the pile of money feel to sleep on?

Who’s ready for Rodgers to talk about the therapeutic healing effects of a dolphin making love to a horse.
So many state governments are going to have to have warning notices that going inside absolute dark isolation sweat huts can cause sudden Achilles heal failure.. Or having a man bun haircut can cause injury later even after your dooo is restyled.
I think that I enjoy Troy Aikman commentary more than most and Aaron Rodgers should call and ask if doing commentary is a good job..
Also others like Terry Bradshaw are old maybe Aaron can find a spot..

Howell had an awful game for Washington while Allen played well.

Great game by the Colts kicker, Gay, every kick was over 50 yards. Sloppy performance by the Ravens.

The Cowboys were terrible especially on run defense and Dak was mediocre once again.

Nice wins by Detroit and Seattle.

Forgettable game for Jimmy G. Every time he did one good thing he then did two bad things. Wasn't as if they didn't have opportunities to win.

As a near life-long Raiders fan, I find this hilarious!

I like JG10, but as much as he kept the Raiders in the game, he lost the game just the same. He and Derek Carr have very different playing styles, with nearly identical results.

Movingtarget mentioned Denver's free agents, which I had forgot about. I think McGlinchey maybe the most disappointing. He is a big body, and mostly a run blocker. SF maybe rightfully felt the rest of their OL covered for his weaknesses, but Denver paid him $87m over 5 years to play RT. Granted, he's been playing hurt, but everyone plays hurt in the NFL. Denver also paid Zach Allen $47m over 3 years, and he was one of the guys who basically gave up this past weekend on D. The paid Alex Singleton $6m per year for 3 years, and he was also invisible on Sunday as well.

If there's any hope (and a trap?) awaiting Denver, they play @Chicago, then the Jets. The must come out of these games 2-3, because after that they get: KC, GB, @KC, @BUF. Two more games against the Chargers, the Viks (currently underperforming) Lions, Browns. The only "easy" game after that is maybe Houston.

But I can't see Greg Penner (head of the Walton group) firing Payton. I mean, they put everything into him, he and Wilson. They are stuck with Wilson at least through 2023, and it would still be really painful to cut him after this year, but then what are they going to do?

Regarding Seattle-Carolina. Finally watched the condensed game. Geno did win that game, but I'm impressed how much grit Andy Dalton showed. Their offense had an immediate and very noticeable step up from Bryce Young with him on the field. Wouldn't it be ironic if Andy Dalton, at his age, were the QB Frank Reich needed to develop, not Carson Wentz, and not Bryce Young?!

Unchained mentioned Troy Aikman. He and Joe Buck are my favorite announcers. I wasn't a big Buck fan years ago when he got into football, but he's good now, and I think Troy talks just enough, not too many "wise" predictions (Romo, who I think is okay), and he doesn't gloat at all about his expert analysis (like Cris Collinsworth, who I detest). Jonathan Vilma is becoming a better commentary guy every week.

To be honest though, I'm in no hurry to hear Rodgers in a commentary booth. I was long ago tired of the "jockocracy" (as Howard Cosell called it) where networks hire freshly retired athletes, hoping for ratings clicks, not caring how well they can articulate things. Some of the NFL network and local networks banter and inside jokes, is often the worst. Then again, I'm getting old.

Respect to CBS for having Beth Mowins call play by play weekly now (Colts-Ravens game this week, if you want to watch/listen), and respect to fans for not blinking. Granted, this wasn't Beth's first game, but she's been at this a long while in college, and done a few NFL games. The NFL claims that over 1/3 of their fan base, and sometimes up to half are women, and if you go to any NFL stadium (or party) you'll be pressed to refute that, even if many are "casual" fans. She's actually quite good.

Detroit looked like a force. They were missing a slew of starters, several back-ups hurt too, they committed 10 penalties, some of them costly. Goff seemed out of sync with some receivers, and threw his 2nd pick in two weeks (after some 200+ throws without one), but every time they stumbled, they got back up and just drove right through the Falcons, and not just the offense, the defense too. Well coached, motivated, organized team the Lions.

Dallas did indeed look like Dallas. "Oh, we are loaded with talent. Dak wth McCarthy calling plays, we're unstoppable." Then they go out and make blunders and allow Arizona to whip them.

Recall how in preseason if it meant anything (it doesn't) then there were a few teams ready to roll, and one was Jacksonville? Well they are limping along at 1-2, Lawrence numbers aren't bad, but he can't get them into the end zone or convert on 3rd down really. Their running game is anemic, and their defense, after looking like they had gained some footing and weren't to blame in a 17-9 loss to KC, gave a staggering 37 points. The entire Jaguar team looks like it's playing preseason games now. Unreal. Stroud looked good for the Texans though.

Good win for the Eagles. Too solid for the Buccs especially on defense.

The Cardinals have been showing up with an inferior roster and fighting hard. They could have been 3-0. While teams like the Bears who have done much more roster wise seem as lost as ever. The Jags and Vikings are not looking as good as last season nor are the Giants who have some injuries. Denver could be another QB/ coach combination that goes nowhere after looking decent on paper. Looks like the Bengals are going to beat the Rams for their first win. More rumors going around that Adams wants out of Vegas and wants a trade. Have to admit that Dalton did look pretty good in the Panthers game. Better than a lot of other current starters.

I wholeheartedly agree - the Broncos must beat the Bears & Jets coming out at 2-3 before hitting that tough stretch with KC twice & Buffalo. Payton has to win both of these games to save face. Right now he's the laughingstock of the NFL & the brunt of jokes made by the morning talk show gurus. Lol

And they should beat the Bears who haven't won a game since last October! (13 straight losses). But the Broncos have a pathetic defense right now giving up a whopping 7.2 yds per play. Will Fields & the Bear offense have a breakout game scoring enough points to get their first "W"of the season? Who knows - but the sad thing is someone has to win this game (unless it ends in a tie. Lol).

Same with the Jets - they should win. Things with the Jets are collapsing with the poor performance of Wilson in back to back losses to the Cowboys & Patriots. Even Broadway Joe has had enough of the Wilson stinking up the joint calling for him to be benched & moving on with a new QB. Lol (and when Broadway Joe speaks....people listen).

I can see Penner easily firing Payton if the Broncos continue to spiral out of control & end up losing as many games as they did last year with Hackett. Wilson is untouchable because of his status & the scape goat will be Payton (it would just be considered a "failed experiment"). As you know, it's musical chairs with HCs in this league - they're here today & gone tomorrow. Firing Payton will be a no brainer & they'll perhaps look at a young up & coming coordinator or maybe even Bieniemy - who would get his first HC job right here in Denver.

One major note from Seahawks game vs Panthers: #14 receiver got the news, did the work and they won. Metcalf is a key if his head stays in the game. Meanwhile...Mr. Mild Manners wraps a beautiful catch around the end zone pylon for the game winner and smiles.
AND THE TIGHT ENDS DID EVERYTHING SF WILL FEAR.

I actually thought they were going to trade him to the Jets in the off-season. Raiders are in a transitional, re-tooling phase anyone. Their fans (a lot of Karens!) think it's McDaniels and Ziegler, and Davis, but they simply don't have the players. Gruden and Mayock put them into a huge, huge hole with terrible draft picks and costly FA signings. It's going to take another 2 years or so to grow that team. Adams may not fit into that picture, and the Raiders may find a trade offer from a playoff team enticing enough to move forward, as good as he is.

It would be far less costly (not in dollars, but in cap. Dollars don't matter to Penner-Walton), and "easier" to move on from Payton, so you are probably right. I said before I could see Payton cutting Wilson at some point. But that would only happen if the team finished something like 9-8, and showed promise, but Wilson played bad. Wilson is playing so-so, but the entire team just stinks right now. They have something like the 5th highest defense payroll, and after last week, that's not on Wilson. It would thus be far more likely they would indeed fire Payton, as you say, a "failed experiment" and move on.

Raiders w Dave Casper, Branch, Stabler,Blientnikoff, Blanda,Madden..for sure, but start moving the team from city to city..no thanks. My brother is still a fan. Growing up in the desert we saw Raiders all the time on TV and trust me in the valley a Cardinal is really not a thing.
And seeing the new name for Cleveland baseball, Washington football, maybe Arizona should rethink Cardinals.. The Arizona Rattlers, Suns football, or Arizona Traffic or Heatstroke..Roadrunners were a IHL hockey team in Phoenix so the name is probably available..
And after some recent travel.. Philadelphia may want to rethink Eagles for something more fitting of the current city..I am trying to be nice so I won't offer any new names

I'm wondering how many losses the Jets will have before they make the change to Siemian? The next 3 games before the bye week are KC, Den & Philly. I see the Broncos as the only game that they have a legitimate shot at winning.

Things have to be pretty bad if Broadway Joe has to come out of his man cave & make the rounds pleading for the Jets to make a change. Lol
