Minshew, as a 6th rounder, was never drafted as a potential starter/franchise QB. You know 5th, 6th & 7th rounders are primarily drafted as backups. Minshew was thrown into the starting lineup because of injuries to the starter. And I don't think he's the one in a lifetime Brady anomaly either. Lol.
Great game so far 21-21 but I think Lions should have went for the field goal. Save the fourth down plays for the coming weeks. Buck said on the broadcast Montgomery could be back next week for the Vikings game.

Well you just know the 49ers are going to screw up in the 4th quarter like they have all season. Thought Pearsall had his best game so far and Gibbs is a handful for any defense. 49ers kicker surely has one foot out the door along with the special teams coach. But the Lions defense once again were unimpressive. Bosa had a great game for the 49ers as banged up as he is with oblique and hip issues.
Lions defense got the turnovers when they needed it most though. I thought Lions were going to lose by 3 or less after not kicking the field goal on their third drive. When you’re in a shoot out, it’s always better taking the points so you stay within 1 score and if your defense gets a stop you can jump ahead. Would have made things less hectic in the second half for them. I stopped watching the end of the game with 2 mins left checked after a couple mins on Google, but they didn’t update the results. It had the niners on the lions 6 1st and goal 40-34 with 40 something seconds left. I was like wtf just happened. Lions will be in another shoot out next week against a better defense, scoring will be key. I think Lions need to have the mindset of scoring on every drive even if it’s a field goal. That one seed bye is huge with their week 5 bye being so long ago. It’ll be a hell of a game this upcoming Sunday.
Sure but one of the picks was from a wild Purdy overthrow and the other one was a good read by the Lions player. A struggling 49ers offense was moving the ball easily against the Lions and they have only done that a few times this season but Shanahan did call a good game in the first half. Purdy has turned the ball over a lot more this season, while the third string O line did better than expected. Couple of stupid penalties also cost them not to mention the missed kicks.
Lots of coded language during the game.. Purdy looking for a renegotiation to get fat long term deal, commentators hinting that Purdy's performance has his value going down.. Purdy on rookie contract and multiple injuries and declining level of play. For me seeing the Falcons- Commanders game was a stark contrast to Purdy play.. He looks nowhere near the 2 rookies.
Sure they were bad throws but the Lions defenders got the interception. They need to deliver on the turnovers opportunities the opposing team gives them and so far they have been. They have the leagues leader in interceptions while being; 4th in turnover differential, tied for 3rd in team interceptions, 9th in points, 1st in third down stoppage, 2nd fourth down stoppage, and 12th in redzone efficiency on defense so far, albeit helped some from when they still had their starters. Where they stink at is yards given up and letting the opposing offense get long drives. We just saw the Steelers get 4 opportunities at a turnover and couldn’t get a single one against the Chiefs. The Lions defense might get chewed up but they’ve gotten the stops when they needed them to try and help the offense. It’s just on the offense to score majority or all of the drives.
Yes, Sanders & Ward will be taken very high and who goes first will probably be determined after the Combine/Pro day workouts. After that there's a big drop off with Milroe (some mocks have him going late in the 1st while others have him in the 2nd). Not a big QB class compared to last year.

Brock P. or Sam D.? I'll take Sam after this year (and hope that this is really him). But, IMO, pretty even QB1s who will both be making their case and likely staying in their existing locker (there is JJ at MIN though which even though he is NFL unproven, MIN can use as a negotiating chip).
Think he's going to get more than 35-45 based on some of the players getting more than that re Lawrence and Dak and even Herbert who is doing better this season. Even Daniel Jones got 40 so did Carr. I'd be surprised if it wasn't 50 at least. His past season and half were better than this season and the whole team has had a down year this year except for Kittle. The most worrying thing is his 4th quarter play, more picks and bad decision making which wasn't apparent last season. But he had to do without CMC and Aiyuk, the number one WR and RB, Williams out or banged up for the the majority of the season and a mediocre O line which got worse with injuries and an injured D line. He wasn't to blame for many of the losses as the special teams kept messing up in close games as well and rank on the bottom of the league. The fact is at the moment teams like the Lions who are also injured have a lot more depth than the 49ers on an aging team with less depth than the past few seasons. Lions have already rebuilt their lines while the 49ers haven't started to do that.
True and the 49ers haven't been getting turnovers like last season or they have had opportunities and haven't taken advantage of them. They didn't really get any opportunities in the Lions game as Goff played a pretty clean game. The 49ers have struggled in the red zone all season on offense but they had no trouble against the Bears and Lions. Last season they were at the top. Their red zone defense has also gone through the floor. The Lions are so good on offense that they will have a shot in the playoffs but they will have to play mistake free football to beat the better teams and hope the offense can score 35 or more and the defense keeps getting turnovers.
If they franchise Darnold, there's no way McCarthy stays there. Remember he's the10th OA pick in one of the best QB classes we've seen in recent memory. And with Penix Jr playing now, all of these 1st rounders have started. McCarthy isn't going to want to sit the bench even for a year if Darnold is the franchise QB moving forward. There are teams that would be very interested in McCarthy.
No parallels between the two. They have completely different personalities. When it comes to Sanders' personality look no further than his dad - he's a chip off the old block. That being said though, I'm sure Prime isn't going to let his son bring in any arrogant, negative attitude to whatever team drafts him. Prime knows how the business works - he's not going to let his son get off to a bad start with an attitude problem.
Keep in mind, O'Connell said at the start of the season (when JJ was healthy) there was no possible chance he was starting, period. He was adamant about it. Then again, if they believe in Darnold, and someone offered a king's ransom for JJ, I'd consider dealing him too.
The Vikings are in an interesting position. They won't want to overpay Darnold as they have another supposedly good QB who won't cost them much at the moment. But if they underpay Darnold they run the risk of losing him to another team. It all depends on Darnold and his agent as to how he values himself in the current market but Darnold also knows that he landed in a good place with a good coach and plenty of talent on the team unlike his time with the Panthers and Jets. Darnold is also still young so the length of the contract offered will be interesting. Don't think the Vikings will want to pay much more than 40, similar to the Baker deal after he had a good comeback season with the Buccs.
