That is bad. Some people in the media were having a field day with Wilson and the Broncos. I'm not going to quote it all, save to say that was probably the worst game I've seen in decades. Not just the low score, but poor play. The Colts looked bad, Ryan looked bad. But Denver and Wilson looked worse. Broncos schedule doesn't get any easier:
@Chargers
Jets
@Jax
@Titans
Raiders
@Panthers
Not terrible, you say? At 2-3, they could end up 5-6. But look after that:
@ravens
Chiefs
Cardinals
@Rams
@Chiefs
Chargers
6-11 seems plausible. I don't think I'm being unrealistic either.
Oh, and if you're thinking they'll be so bad they'll draft a QB in the first round and move on from Wilson, Russel's fat contract starts to pay out in 2023, and really 2024 and beyond. And releasing him would be like a $120m hit of dead money. I can't possibly see him playing
that bad in the months to come, but at the cost they gave up, and are paying him, it's like their long-term future doesn't look promising.
