The hate on Mahomes by you is unreal. I guess you don't appreciate a real generational talent (look at all the phonies out there like the next "Peyton Manning" Lol). Sure, it wasn't anything off the charts - basically just another day at the office with 260 throwing & another 33 rushing & no picks. The run he made for the score drilling the defender with his shoulder I thought was impressive - he definitely wanted to punch it in. Stuff like that will fire up your team (though I bet Reid doesn't want him doing that).

It’s more of the Gunslinger nickname, at least for me. In previous years absolutely he was but he’s more of a game manager now with Vick’s (or better) ability to run the ball. That’s why earlier in the season I said he channeled his inner Vick.

I'm not sure sure what all of the 'gunslinger' resurrection is, but that was a nick name that the media gave PM when they couldn't figure out a way to describe his style of play (throw from any arm angle, scramble, pocket, run, right hand, left hand, shovel, no look...all while completing about 65%). They called Favre that too, but he was mostly out of control, spraying lead, er I mean balls, everywhere.

I'm sick of him being put on a pedestal. There's no doubt he gets more calls than any other play in the NFL, you deny it all you want, but I'm not the only one saying this. I'm sick of he, and other Chiefs, being plastered all over everything, so many ads, to where you're constantly looking at him, even if you don't watch a single game of theirs. Over 700 different combined ads through the year. These are separate ads. In the past 30 days, commercials featuring Kansas City Chiefs have had 85,479 airings. I'm again not the only one sick of watching all this. Just look across the web. Only Chiefs and Mahomes fans like yourself think it's great.

And don't forget that badly damaged ankle he suffered last week, oh no! Yet just like I predicted, he looked 100% healthy this week. All to make him look even more amazing. The best player ever! The best athlete ever! We need more commercials of him! Put him higher on that pedestal!

Here's some real love for Mahomes for ya.

No predictions this week. Too busy.

I mostly enjoy/appreciate PM and the Chiefs. I don't watch very many, if any, ads so I've missed most of what is driving you nuts. Best player ever? No. Best athlete ever? No. Really good QB? Yes.

I stand corrected on ROY. It's Jayden Daniels. Just a special player. Great game today.

Bryce playing better. Hubbard playing great. Panthers playing well. Nice win against AZ!

Rams did not play well. Not to worry though, Jets played much worse. Rodgers just folded late.

49ers, Cardinals and Cowboys all out of the playoffs.

I think my quibble with Mahomes and the Chiefs is hopefully viewed more as "sick of them" than that I actually hate them. I don't hate anyone.

Cardinals like clockwork capitulate when there is a playoff spot on the line, Rams didn't really have to be that good to beat the Jets. Panthers winning a few trap games. The word hate is overused especially in a sports fan context, it's just become a stupid term for being critical of something mildly or otherwise. Bengals showing some life when the season is over.
Can’t watch the game but what the heck is going on in the Rams vs Jets game. Stafford was only at 40 something yards at halftime while Jets moving the ball but keep turning it over on downs. Rams losing to the Jets after hanging 40 something on the Bills will be crazy.
Rams barely beat the 49ers as well and Stafford was terrible, the 49ers handed them the game late as they have done all season in close games. they are the sort of team that could go out in the first round or win a few games. A better's nightmare. Seems like the Patriots were giving the Bills a game as well.

If that’s the reason I’d have called him The
Ambidextrous or The Angler.

On Chiefs ads like I’ve said I get like 1-2 every commercial break while watching football, 1 during the multiple ads on Peacock, and maybe 1 every 3-4 YouTube videos no matter what the video is. It’s also annoying seeing them spoken about in sports news and social media, even if it’s not something pertaining to Chiefs but that is to be expected due to their success. Same thing happened with the Patriots, only difference was only Gronk had multiple ads and same with Brady as he got older that they’d play in non-Patriot/Bucs games. Then I can’t hate on someone getting money when they can.

Steelers kept it close until the Wilson turnovers hit them in the butt. They have to be better against the Chiefs or their defense will destroy the Steelers offense.
Lions with a big win and they continue to style on their opponents with the trick play on the Laporta touchdown. They got a big help in the seeding with the Commanders win, though the Vikings are hanging in there. You’ll see a rare sight next week of the Lions rooting for the Packers.

Dolphins with a nice win and still technically in the hunt but they lost their chances when Tua was out and not being able to win the close games. Bengals are in the same boat with Burrow and the offense playing well but the defense can’t get out of their way.

Not only could the Jets and Rodgers losing like this repeatedly couldn’t happen to a better team but the owner and Rodgers are a match made in heaven.

Raiders finally win a game! Against the hapless Jaguars, who have likely earned the right to draft Travis Hunter. When you supposedly have a deep roster already, you might as well roll the dice and take him.

Worst team in the NFL is now the Giants, who won't win again they are so terrible, and my guess is they will take Shedeur Sanders, unless they trade him away for a haul of picks (may happen if daddy insists Shedeur won't play for the Giants). Raiders likely to fall to 4th-7th in the draft, Ward may fall to them, may not. Raiders may be better served to just pick BPA, then see if another QB falls to them in the 2nd or 3rd round (Ewers? Nussmeier? Beck? Gabriel? Unsure if Milroe will declare. Allar staying at Penn State). I've posted for months now, Aiden O'Connell is not the Raiders problem.

Rams indeed a gambler's nightmare. This was hardly the explosive offense that beat the Bills, and Vikings. They looked completely out of sorts most of the game, and relied on the Jets to simply be the Jets.

Vikings-Seahawks like a playoff game. Seattle fought hard. The two teams that don't win the NFC North, but get in as wild cards, could cause real trouble in the playoffs. I can definitely see Minnesota, Green Bay (or Detroit) going to and beating Philadelphia, Tampa, LA Rams. Or Seahawks or Commanders.

49ers really collapsed against Miami, who needed to win to stay alive. I am sure to some degree knowing at kickoff they had been eliminated from the playoffs didn't motivate them, but this was still an ugly loss. Their D looked especially listless. Their offense relied on Purdy to be a hero.

Why are you categorizing him as a "game manager" now when he's still putting up big yardage every year? Excluding his rookie year that he didn't play, he's passed for over 4,000 yds - including two 5,000 yd seasons - in each in of his six seasons so far (this year may be difficult - he needs 392 yds in the next two games and if they lock up the #1 seed & he doesn't play in the last game, he'll need to get all that yardage in the game against Pittsburgh on Xmas).

And it's quite an accomplishment for a QB to throw for over 4000 yds in a season (for one they have to stay healthy enough to play the entire season). Even with the NFL expanding to 17 games in 2021, there hasn't been that many QBs throwing for 4000. Last year only 10 that did it, the year before only 9 & in 2021 back to only 10 again.

And don't overlook Mahomes' playmaking capability - from insane throws & uncanny scrambling ability - to making things happen & winning against adversity.

I flip channels when commercials come on...ie: today at commercial breaks of the SEA game I flipped to MIAvSF game, and even the NCAA VB championships, and use skip on YouTube (so mostly get Jake from state farm, but not PM). Tonight at commerical breaks I'm flipping over to the Kennedy Honors.

Collins referred to Baker as a gunslinger tonight! :)

He was given the name because he was throwing (i.e. "slinging" ) ball almost 50 times a game at Texas Tech under Kingsbury's "air raid" offense. Plus he was born & raised in West Texas which has a strong history of "Gunslingers/Texas Rangers" shooting it up in the old West. Lol.

Well, what do you expect? - it's a dynasty there in KC. Mahomes is already a future HOF & could eventually be in the GOAT conversation. But we've seen this before with dynasty teams & their star QBs (imagine that. Lol). Go back to the Steelers & Bradshaw, the 9ers & Montana, the Cowboys & Aikman and of course, Brady & NE. I agree with you that he gets more calls than any other QB but so did those other dynasty QBs.

I don't pay attention to all the commercials & marketing involving him. For one, I hardly watch any TV anymore & very rarely watch a game live from start to finish (too many damn commercial breaks). I think I saw him once in some goofy T-Mobile commercial (?) Lol. But again marketing these stars are nothing out of the ordinary - do you remember "Broadway Joe" in those stupid panty hose commercials? Lol.

And so he injures his ankle...big deal. He's had prior ankle injuries before as probably half of all the starting QBs play on injured ankles at point or another during any given season. The training staff will just tape the ankle on the outside of the cleat & if he needs a pain killer, he'll get that. Unless the ankle is broken or there's torn ligaments/tendons, ankle injuries in the NFL are no big deal. It would take a far bigger injury to keep Mahomes out of a game.

But it's not just the Gunslinger that I'm impressed with this year, but the way Reid has managed the injury situation. Hollywood goes down in preseason & Worthy steps in & contributes right away (2nd leading receiver). Pacheco goes down & he plugs in Hunt where their run game doesn't miss a beat. The offensive line gets annihilated & Reid mixes & matches different combos of guys for damage control. It's more than you can say for that coach out there in SF who choked with their injury situation. Lol

What would I expect? I'd expect other people who aren't specifically fans of the team to get sick of them being plastered wall to wall all over everything too.

I (strangely!) agreed with Cris Collinsworth. That was indeed a very hard hitting game, from both teams! Kind of a messy, penalty riddled game, but a tough game too. Great effort by the Cowboys, especially after being eliminated from the playoffs. Mike Shanahan's team didn't do that.

Because he’s been an elite game manager the last two seasons. The offense has only looked good for the whole game vs terrible defenses, otherwise it’s only for a couple drives to a half that they look good. They’ve been kept in the games due to their elite defense and special teams, and Mahomes more often than not wins the game at the end. Allen, Jackson, Burrow, Hurts, and Stafford could all have similar success while Goff, Love, Tua, Stroud, Lawrence, and Herbert could all make the playoffs and progress at a minimum. Last season offense was 15th in points and 11th in yards and this season isn’t much better at 11th in points and 13th in yards. The team kicks too many field goals but their elite defense stifles the opposing team.

This was the toughest the Cowboys played in quite awhile. They even had the Chiefs level of luck with the two turnovers ripped from the Bucs. Even though they’re dangerous, Bucs playoff chances are out of their hands though Falcons could lose to the Commanders.

The media consensus seems to be Jayden Daniels will get rookie of the year.
That game was really tough to watch, with the Commies making 5 turnovers. I had thrown in the towel several times watching that game.

Meanwhile, we need some kind of Thermidorean reaction from NFL fans regarding the amount of time spent on commercial break. Like dry january people giving up alcohol , we need to boycott the NFL for a few weeks to prove a point. Preferably September, so we don't miss the playoffs.

I have several reason to quit the NFL, but like all addict's, I can't!

Sort of weird that NFL has figured out a way to extend the season, left Thursday night football in place for too long into the season, played in Europe, expanded viewership to Netflix, and are figuring out more ways every year for paid promotions, including standard TV commercials, wearing customized shoes with promotional messages, wearing pink all over to show male concerns for breast cancer..
I don't know when soccer just gave up and let sponsor logos become more prominent so identifying the team became near impossible but everyone knows, should come as no surprise, when Nike, Coca-Cola, Gatorade or something unrelated become prominent uniform features.
Do you think players and coaches will have much say if the owners come to agree on integrated TV time outs? No.
I can't help but imagine NFL owners meetings sounding like production execs from Game of Thrones or Walking Dead trying to figure out ways to spin something off for profit, some way to nurse out revenue from the existing brand.
San Francisco broadcast has 2 Toyota commercials featuring Broc Purdy and 49ers logo and at close of the commercial, it says SF 49ers are official partners w Toyota. I am guessing on Browns or Commanders being first.. Maybe the X Browns, Tesla Browns, Meta or Nike Commanders.. It's coming, slowly creeping in.. You see pro teams uniforms looking more like cycling, F1 and NASCAR..
In college bowl games it came on in an almost overnight way, sponsors were more prominent than traditional titles for the games..

Nonsense Shadow - your dislike for the Gunslinger obscures the statistical evidence you're overlooking. You're correct on the defense - the Chiefs have an elite D that's going to keep them in games most of the time. But you still need an effective offense to score & win games, especially during crunch time when the chips are down.

Mahomes achieved 4000+ yds & 24+ TDs in each of his six seasons starting. 4000+ yds plus 24+ TDs passing are benchmarks of what defines a good passing QB in the league. Less than dozen QBs have achieved this over the last 3 seasons - even with the 17 game schedule. Less than half of all 1st rd QBs have a achieved a season with 4000+ yds & 24+ TDs. Last year Mahomes finished 6th in total passing yds throwing for 4183 & 27 TDs. Factor in his 389 yds rushing & you have 4572 yds total O (269 average per game) --- that's an offensive machine! He was even better in the playoffs last year (4 games) with 1051 passing, 6 TDs, 141 rushing - 1192 total O or 298 average per game.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2023/passing.htm

Now let's look at 4th Qtr comebacks & game winning drives - a true benchmark of a great QB. Mahomes currently has 42 4th Qtr comebacks/game winning drives more than any active QB except Rodgers, Stafford & Wilson! However, they have 19, 15 & 12 yrs in the league, respectively, vs Mahomes 7 yrs (and all are future HOF, btw).

This season Mahomes is 7th in passing (3608 & 23 TDs). However, he has a career high seven (7) 4th Qtr comebacks/game winning drives already this season & there still is a game or two to go! Like I said, the 4000/24 benchmark might be in jeopardy this year depending upon if he plays in the last two games of the season or just the one against Pittsburgh.

So, if you have a QB pumping out 4000+ yds & 24+ TDs routinely every season, you have an outstanding passing QB with good receivers (nothing new there). That's far from an "elite game manager." Lol. And if you have a QB with that kind of 4th Qtr comeback ability, you have an elite QB who's going to win you close games more often than not.

Speaking of QBs & commercials, isn't that Stafford & his hot wife doing that "sleep number" mattress commercial? After seeing that, I'm going to come back in the next life as a 6-3 Gigachad elite QB. Lol.
