Whilst on the subject of WC shorts, how did Cadel get away with his black and white shorts? They weren't standard team issue or designed to the UCI specification, was it just a case of the UCI not enforcing the rule?

Cadel's bibs must have been within the UCI-rules (and approved).
The WC is entitled to wear matching bibs (and respect some certain rules)
It's not a duty, it's freely. Standard bibs are OK as well

AG2R kit isn't that terrible. I've gotten used to it. It'll never be a superb ensemble, but I like those helmets, they look pretty good.

Yeah, must admit I quite like it too. I think its pretty classy to be fair. Helmet goes well with the rest.
Helmet strap is a nice touch. 7/10

Personally I love Lazer helmets... I have a Helium. But that AG2R lid is sharp as hell. Wow.

good to see other people also like it, flames aren't really my style but they do look rather good on the kit, i have been thinking of buying myself one of those to blend in with the group

btw they have flames on the kit because the "main sponsor" is a fireplaces builder so it does make sense to have them.

about the AG2R kit, i like it. its no the best but its a good kit and with the helmet detail it gets even cooler also it certainly stands out from the corporative boring kits of teams like garmin, sky, leopard last year and maybe even the shack this year so that's enough for me to like it.

+1 really. I'll never be mad keen on brown lycra, but it sort of works, and it is refreshingly different from lots of the other kits in the peloton.

Figures - the one kit that really needed changing stays the same. They should have the shorts match the jerseys or something. The brown is just awful.

AG2R kit is a bit of a ripoff of the old Xacobeo Galicia kit, I think it's nice.

Don't understand the strong aversion to the brown shorts: dark colour, goes with the pale blue, distinctive, tasteful IMO.

Ah, but that Xacobeo kit was way better. I loved that.

I hated the 2007-8 Karpin/first Xacobeo one though. That was ugly as sin with the multicoloured cyclists.
