Grossschartner avoided being eliminated from the competition with a very unninjalike performance. Honestly, you would think there was no way he would not finish inside top10 from such break but he managed to do so and also grab a lot of camera time with his attack instead.

Louis Meintjes is still in the race........I guess. Unless my memory is faulty I can never remember Meintjes attacking nor can I remember him getting into a break. I wonder what the attraction is for team managers when it comes to new contracts for him ?

To Stage 12

I have added a couple of riders who were unselected, put in the running.

Does top ten in a ITT stage really break ninja status? If the cameraman/producer doesn't pick up on them, then they get a high finish unnoticed.

Edet still 7th on GC. Ultimate, extreme ninja. Too bad he had the leader's jersey.

They're not my picks: I made my nomination Pardilla in the first post. These were just some of the guys in the running who nobody had selected.

I meant those you added because no one else did, and they were doing quite well in the Ninja Competition; that is... before they decided to duke it out for the win.

Hagen looking good for the award. 6th place and I stiil couldn't tell you what he looks like
He's actually slipped to 9th now, but still not troubled the highlights reel.

Edet is clinging onto 7th. He's 2.44 behind NAIRO QUINTANA, and still not been in a top 10.

To rest day 2 (stage 16)

D'oh: worked out all those times -10:27, and then found SafeBet beat me to it by a few minutes

Others within an hour of Edet who would still be in the game, had they been chosen, are Eg, Powless, Tusvled and Christian Rodriguez.

Could you argue that the biggest ninjas are the ninjas no one picks? They're so ninja no one even consider them for this.

The fact that Edet is still in contention, in my opinion, is a clear sign that the rules need to be revised. It shouldn't just be about your raw placings. An 11th placing when you went through the trouble of getting in a break is much more against the spirit of the competition than an anonymous 9th or 10th placing from the contenders' group. And a leader's jersey should disqualify you outright.

True, but boy has he lived up to the criteria since losing the jersey!

Outrageously good ninja performance from Carl Fredrik Hagen today to stay in the Red Jersey group all the way to the line and not get spotted by the Eurosport commentary at all who were convinced he had been dropped

^^This!!^^
He'll leave the Vuelta unseen with a nice little GC placing. Good on him!!

I'd love to see him test himself with an aggressive attack in these final few stages.

By being at the back of the Red jersey group, CFH is always immediately in front of the camera bike. By trying to be unseen, he is the most visible of all.

But although we don't know how far any group behind is from Quintana/Hagen/Meintjes, he has a real danger of finishing in the top 9 today.

CFH is on camera a lot in groups of other big favs who drop. Hamair literally went entire tours without getting 30 seconds on camera

With Hagen and Meintjes out, Edet regains the lead here.
Among the riders selected by posters of this forum, Frankiny has a comfortable lead over Stetina.
