Add to that list the following whom are all likely to start:

Le Mevel, Dan Martin, Pinotti, TJVG, Bruseghin, Mollema, Machado, Löfkvist, Uran, Garzelli, Visconti...

Can't wait :D

Dan Martin no - doing the Tour
Uran unfortunately i doubt it though then again at this point its wiser to do the Tour. Which is what he is doing.
Mollema i hear is domestiquing for Bobby G at the Tour.
Bruseghin, Lowvfkwqvist, Garzelli yes.
Le Mevel no idea.
Visconti yes but hes not a gc guy. Same with Pinotti and i think TJVG.
If we are counting others then you can put Cav and Pippo in.

Oh and yes you are right Machado. I forgot about him. Sorry Parulo.

So Kruijswijk is the captain at Rabo then? Hmm was sure that Uran would be doing the Giro and Mollema also. True about Visconti - I just put him in because I really like him - same for Hoogerland :)

Pinotti surely is not one of the favourites, but he IS a gc guy... last year 9th without being in the Aquila breakaway (if I remember correctly)....

"“I really want to win a stage at the Giro,” he said, although he’s not totally impressed by the route that features no less than nine uphill finishes.

“I’ll take the Giro as a survival camp,” Millar said. “From what I understand, it’s just ridiculous. It’s more a circus than a race. It requires a different mentality than for the other events. Since my mentality shifted, I have enough madness, which is quite good. I’m prepared for that. The course will push us to our limits.”"

Actually, I'd say the circus is in July.

1) nine uphill finish? Maybe he saw the wrong route?
2) It requires a different mentality... thank God this is true :D

i only know anton and nieve on that team. . . . are the other guys good? not that anton has to worry much about having a team capable of controlling the race, with the TTT if he gets too pink it will be laterish in the race so the team wouldn't have to work for most of the race.

If 5 of that team finish the race they'll have done a good job. They'll spend most of the time in breakaways, especially the likes of Oroz and Isasi. Looks like maybe Nieve will be Antón's lieutenant and the rest is all stagehunting and survival. Otherwise you'd expect to see some stronger mountain hands like Martínez.

Juanjo is a nice addition for the team and will be serviceable for Anton. Minguez has been progressing nicely this year as has Aramendia.

Some of these guys have never raced a GT before, so simply finishing the Giro will be a feat in itself for the young ones. Also Isasi is guaranteed to be in at least two breakaways.

Overall a good aggressive team, should add a lot to the race besides what everyone anticipates Anton will already do.

This is the 11 that Movistar have selected:

Andrey Amador, David Arroyo, Marzio Bruseghin, Javier Iriarte, Vasili Kiryienka, Pablo Lastras, Carlos Oyarzun, Sergio Pardilla, Luis Pasamontes, Branislau Samoilau and Francisco Ventoso.

I would say it would be:

Arroyo
Bruseghin
Kiryienka
Lastras
Ventoso
Amador
Pardilla
Pasamontes
Samolieu

The official site of Gazzetta has been finally updated with all the changes of the route.
Actually, it has been simply linked with the site I linked weeks ago :D

The "2011" site has been down for a while since then though.

Still no final km profiles :(

probly it wasn't down, it was merely a "beta" version. When they realized people found it, they obscured it. Now it's completed, apparently.
I wonder when they'll put the final kms.

Kiriyenka said after his Pais Vasco stage 2 win that he was focused on the Giro.

Good to see such a positive attitude to cycling (not just the Tour) from someone like Kiriyenka who comes from a country outside the centro european cycling universe - which tend to see 1 race as the be all end all.

He really seems to fit in well among the hispanics at Unzues team.

belarusians basically all have started their careers in italy in amateurs and u23, like slovenians and polish riders often as well so for them I think giro is important although not for their nation per se.

Anton isn't going to have the easiest of times with those 8 men riding for him. Nieve can be an outstanding domestique, but the rest (unless one of them is ready to explode onto the scene) would be useless on a big mountain stage.

Winning gona be very hard for poor Igor :(

Well maybe that's why Igor De Galdeano has said repeatly that They are not going for the GC ;)
They are going for stage hunting and to get experience in Il Giro... absolutely no pressure on Fuji to get results, finishing this very tough Giro will be a really good achivement for the squad... and much more important for Fuji that has his eyes in La Vuelta ;)

Tell that to the 14% of people who are predicting an Anton victory (see above).

The majority of which cast their votes before Contador announced he was doing the giro (and menchov too for that matter)

Kiryienka always does the Giro. He loves it. He was amazing with a free hand in 2008, 2nd to Pescocostanzo behind the now-disgraced Bosisio, 2nd to Pampeago behind the now-disgraced Sella and finally winning on Monte Pora in week 3. He was 2nd in the GPM and was on the attack most days. He also got a 2nd in the stage to Segovia in the Vuelta, when Caisse put Arroyo on monitor duty in the break but Kiryienka was just too strong and soloed away, so Arroyo nipped out to beat him in the sprint. That ride more or less single handedly got him his role with Unzué's team.

In '09 he did Giro-Vuelta (at the Vuelta he was employed as Valverde's personal minder, last man in front of him at almost all times), and in 2010 he did Giro-Tour. That he's doing the Giro again this year is no surprise whatsoever. I'd probably expect him to do Giro-Vuelta this year as well to be honest.

Radioshack´s preliminary selection:

Fumiyuki Beppu
Manuel Cardoso
Philip Deignan
Robert Hunter
Tiago Machado
Jason McCartney
Robbie McEwen
Yaroslav Popovych
Ivan Rovny
Bjorn Selander

10 men, so one still needs eliminating. Nice to see Machado might do hit first GT.
