Stole this from another forum but it made me LOL. Don't mess with USPS.

"All right! But hear me and hear me well! The day will come, oh yes, mark my words! Your day of reckoning is coming, when an evil wind will blow through your little playworld and wipe that smug smile off your face! And I'll be there in all my glory, watching, watching as it all comes crumbling down!"

Race Radio scores again!

Question for you: is the Qui Tam seperate from the criminal investigation ?
It seems like the answer is yes, so why do the feds join one but drop the other? Can the criminal investigation be revised?

Chewy covered the civil stuff well.....on the Criminal side, there is an active criminal investigation into Armstrong. I expect it will result in charges but Mark says no way :D

Qui Tam is a civil action. The main difference between the two is the burden of proof. Though I think there were other reasons that played into Birotte, part of their reluctance could also be attributed to having to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.

In the civil action, it's "preponderance of the evidence" which means whichever side has the greater balance of the evidence in the eyes of the finder of fact (judge or jury). Much easier burden.

Thanks to you both,

So it's like OJ Simpson all over again..

Celebrity athlete with both a civil & criminal case

(obviously the crimes themselves are not comparable).
Edit: seems like the witness tampering part (Tyler) should be a slam dunk..
would be nice if the truth about Stephanie McIlvain came out in relation to witness tampering.

Did some USPS money go elsewhere? I never understood why they needed to sell team bikes to fund doping? They were a rich team.

Maybe just for the untraceable cash money? If you are going to do something crooked requiring money, better you do it with cash that you "don't" have than with money that comes out of a bank account.

Just noticed almost everyone beat me to this, nevermind.

I have been travelling the last couple of days and didn't get a chance to see any news.

I saw that tweet from Kimmage on my blackberry and thought "what the hell does that mean" ...

Imagine my delight at reading this this afternoon.

(Why on earth doesn't this site let you go to the last place you read in a thread, instead of having to search from here to kingdom come?).

I read this as a possible out for Armstrong. If he decides to squeal on the Weasel & Co., he may get clemency. Maybe I am wrong.

I read it that Weisel, Knaggs, and Stapleton are working on their own deal.....I doubt I am wrong

So much for his friends

They are bigger fish that Armstrong though. Why not use Armstrong to grab the bigger fish rather than vice versa?

The bigger fish affect the ecosystem much more than Lance does. I can see your point but also see the governments view and they don't bite the hand that feeds (more).

Wow, the Complaint is an interesting document. It breaks down the money flow between USPS and the defendants, the doping activities, the complicated web of companies set up by Weisel (aka Weisel’s alter egos :)). Also gives some info about Armstrong’s salary, $15 million for 2001-2004 plus bonuses.

Paragraph 227 states ‘Tyler Hamilton’s 2011 book The Secret Race’. Shouldn’t that be 2012? Typo? Imagine where things would be today if Tyler’s book came out in 2011.
