Open Letter to USA Cycling
In light of the federal investigation into former professional cyclist Lance Armstrong and the former US Postal Professional Cycling Team, etc., Lance Armstrong's publicly hostile behavior toward former teammates cooperating with the investigation, and his recent unprofessional and public altercation with one former teammate in particular, I call upon USA Cycling, Inc. - the national governing body for cycling in the United States - to officially cancel the 'Lance Armstrong Junior Development Series' of Junior-level cycling races.

This is great. USA Cycling and the UCI screwed Battenkill with the new rules that prevent high level teams from racing events like Battenkill. Now the RD seizes the chance to stick it to USA Cycling. I like it.

Witness tampering is a pretty big deal. Especially in this case. I agree it should have its own thread. If he keeps doing this it may need its own sub-forum. :D

WIth reference to the NYTimes article written by Juliet Macur----don't you find it interesting that the 'local real-estate' -whatever ,guy DiLuca was "then invited to sit down and have a drink with Armstrong"?
another 'witness' that says nothing appeared to happen...

Cool! Even the locals are named after cyclists. Let me guess the chef's name was Ullrich?

I've gone through all the posts, but it seems nobody has answered my question yet. If it was a setup, would it still count? That would be fantastic, because if it was a setup, there'll be voice and video recording, and Jodi and a few others will be in deep s*** as well. I could never have hoped for a better spectacle than seeing Novitsky play Armstrong like a fiddle and Armstrong's bullying tactics working against him.

And what kind of person they had been kissing his a$$ for all those years.

They both started the habit for no money while under USA Cycling's tender embrace. I guess old habits die hard; but die they will.

I would not expect that if it was a chance meeting or set up by LA or set up by TH would make any difference.

The issue would be Armstrong's state of mind at the time and his consequent actions. Was their evidence that his intention was to intimidate the witness?

By his physical "assault" on TH (admitted by the owner of LA "stopping" TH as he walked by) and, if proven, the words claimed by TH that LA used then it would be intimidation of a witness.

It would be relevant to his state of mind if there was evidence of planning to ambush TH, eg being informed of TH's presence at the restaurant.

Getting both sides of input on the issue, I went ahead and merged the threads now that it's sat for a day.

We're looking into how to better improve the entire "Lance Armstrong" issue, so bear with us.

Good to see you back, Big Boat.

Context oldman. Rubarb was talking about them covering for LA, ie "kissing his ***". That is different than choosing to dope to compete in a sport rife with dopers.

A whole tree of LA forums. One main forum for legal proceedings structure without details, one for legal-relevant details, one for all that riders and insider implicated him with, one for La's one implicating quotes and actions, one for his personality details and opinion on that, one for livestrong credibility issues, etc, etc. Under than another level of forums, to put individual threads in. Good luck moderating it all...
People loe to talk about LA. All that shifts is the average bias.

"Manderson declined to say whether Hamilton would appear before the grand jury again, but hopes federal authorities will interview some of the people in the bar who witnessed what occurred, including those in Armstrong's entourage."
http://www.aspentimes.com/article/20110614/NEWS/110619919/1077&ParentProfile=1058

Earlier it was posted that GJ dates are no secret by themselves? Then, perhaps onyl when firmly established, rather than still in preparation.

The video will not shed any light on the Saturday night incident because the restaurant's cameras, installed to discourage theft by staff, are focused on the kitchen, she added. There are cameras in the dining area, but they are not functional, she said.

Not functional?

Regardless of what hey find it shows that the Feds are not going to tolerate Armstrong's tactics. It sends a clear message to him but more importantly sends a message to other potential witnesses that its ok to speak.

thats a somewhat interesting question. my observation has been that there is/was a particular inequity amongst their respective intellectual capacities. so now they feel duped, not having net worths in the hundreds of millions. revenge is indeed a dish best served cold, and preferably served by federal prosecutors.

Kissing a$$ might be an appropriate term, considering that this inequity was not just in terms of intelligence but also in terms of simple power, inclusive of attorneys, executive assistants, and miscellaneous handlers. He always seemed to pay well, but as most American professional cyclists were unlikely to ever make any real cash, saying no was akin to saying no to cycling for any prospect with career choices.

Did Armstrong bring an entourage there to have a nice diner with, or was he just happening to meet a friend running a restaurant, during diner time no less?
It was uneventful, so surely he will have enjoyed an elaborate diner in his beloved restaurant. I expect a CC payment with royal tip :)
