yes, Bonfire of the Vanities a great read.

I live in Co...used to go to Aspen a lot in the late 70s..a way different feel before the money and pseudo-celebrities and glamourous peacocks.
Sad for the locals that were forced out due to the high cost of living , and yes , the town now fits Lance to a 't'.
There are still normal folks and a low key side, but sadly they are not the political and power juggernaut that shapes the future there anymore. :(

When Kevin Costner moves in you know a town has lost it's soul.

Where do you head when you get back into town?

“The place we always go to have dinner with the kids is a restaurant called Cache Cache. Jodi [Larner, the owner] is kind of a grande dame, and she has just always taken care of me. The first day I walked in, Jodi had this great smile and said, ‘I was wondering when you were going to walk in here.’ And we’ve been friends ever since.”

I used to go to Aspen skiing every year from 1981 until 1992. We'd stay in Aspen skiing between Buttermilk, Snowmass and when I got really confident, Ajax itself.
I mentioned to Frankie long ago before lance bought a house there that I'd love to take the kids there. With all that's going on, how ridiculous is it that we should stay away from Aspen on purpose. It's like saying lance has no business coming to Michigan.
If you don't know lance i.e. if you believe the crafted image you may find it hard to believe he'd approach Ty and go off on him. However, if you know Lance, you find his behavior and actions toward Tyler par for the course.
It is a felony to lie to a federal agent. Tyler would be in hot hot water were he making this up. I don't think he'd put himself at risk of committing a felony by concocting this incident.

Question; Lance is a tyrant. But from what I know he's not stupid. Why o why would he approach Tyler and suggest tearing him apart? In public as well. Are these chinks in the amour or do you think Lamce still thinks he's in in the right and will take on this case and win? Surely he must knows the game is up?

Was alcohol involved? Impaired judgement. 100 mile ride in morning, a couple cocktails later. Honestly, I wonder how much that was a factor.

if alcohol was the factor in armstrong's behaviour, it would only serve to remove the cognitive inhibitions from his natural bully state, me thinks.

Lance would never drink alcohol. How can somebody put a drug (alcohol) in their body after getting cancer? He would never do that, no way.

He just does ads for it. He is a capitalist thru and thru.

Thank-you. Not to mention the 1200 mile plane flight.

He's doesn't mind a drink mind you. Has always been that way. (cancer card has been good in that respect. Stops many people from saying too much)

Still. Once a bully always a bully. He can't fight it any other way.

Best. Not long to go now!

Did you stop going to Aspen in 1992 because that was the year that LA turned pro?

+1

In addition maybe Lance regards Tyler as an underling/upstart which may further irritate him (how dare an "insignificant weed" infringe on my party).

I know Lance "Owns a house" there, but does he LIVE there? I thought that "home" was Austin TX.

As Betsy says above, this behavior was 100% Lance. From TN (in the air), the only difference between Aspen and Austin is a few degrees of rudder. If the feds were smart, they'd ask the pilot what the original flight plan was and if there was any last minute (or mid-flight) change. Match those facts with any phone calls that came from Cache Cache and you'll probably get a real winner.

The saddest part here is the massive lying machine that accompanies Lance wherever he goes. And it grows in size daily. People who want to be/stay close to Lance must become part of the lying machine. And I guess that once they're a part of it, it's really easy to STAY a part of it. I wonder if the pilot/s is/are willing to urinate-away their FAA ATP licenses by continuing to be part of the lying machine. My guess? No. With each passing day, those who initially lie for him (like the co-owner of Cache Cache) and then later come into contact with federal agents who say "you better not be lying to us", the tide will start turning against him.

Lance, I know you track Betsy's movements and words, so I know you or one of your cronies will read this too. Shame on you for involving SO MANY people in your web of lies. And how sad for your young kids who must also live the life of your lies. Shame on you.

there was some good articles about pro Lance Aspen residents. They had to tone it down after people started to look at the pros and cons of having a Lance Armstrong day in Aspen.

I think its safe to say they are both obsessed with each other. She seems to follow him just as close.

What makes you say that? The Tour de France does not bestow intelligence on the winner. Lance has proved time and time again that he is reckless. He has a history of doing unnecessarily stupid things. A few months ago there was an interview with a writer that knows Lance. The writer said that Lance was not smart and in the same answer mentioned how cruel he could be. I wish I could find a link.

Telluride blows Aspen away on all fronts. Beauty not even close, mountain Ajax is a joke compared to the terrain in Telluride, charm of town again not even close. Aspen is for the want to be seen crowd and the want to see crowd.

Agreed. Telluride isn't cheap anymore, but it's still so much more down to earth than Aspen. Gotta be the most scenic town in N. America.

Maybe he has been surrounded by sycophants for so long that he is losing touch with reality, Elvis and MJ style?

need a new one with the confrontation between Hamilton and Gunderson in Aspen

That one had better be the epic one!

I am hoping for a full re-enactment right down to the phone call from Larner to the argument about Tyler not paying the freaking tip. What a bunch of high falutin limp wristed crud this whole restaurant thing is. And to imagine it may end Lance in some serious trouble is just the capper. This is TruTV for the lipo- and netjet set. Lizard Lick towing has nothing on this trailer trash.

Aspen, French Restaurant, tip, patron ejection, slap fight, girlie men, cctv works in kitchen but not in the front. Just what kind of nouveau riche plastic poseurs are we talking about here?

Now redirects (or more precisely 'frames') cache cache's website. I was beginning to wonder if it was going to be a mock site, although I would be concerned about the defamatory potential of that.

But take a look at the title bar at the top of the screen --- Witness Intimidation ..... oh, the schadenfreude of watching this fraud climb so high and die this pathetic 'death by a thousand cuts' is just too delicious to deny. One by one, the believers drop away and he is increasingly less invincible. Great human drama.
