I think more than just 1 person is doing this stuff. Lets not throw it on one guy because he disagrees with you position. This thread stopped being serious months ago, but its all good as long as the people posting realize it.
It is caused by multiple posters like Polish. However, the news front has been relatively quiet since June with the exception of the recent motion by Armstrong's lawyers. I resolve to ignore Polish and JT much more from now on. I predict that I will stick to that, too. :D

While I understand your frustration to some degree, it doesn't mean people need to reduce themselves to insults. Nor does it mean, as you say, one has to post, or even acknowledge other posters. There is also the ignore feature.

I think it's about time you realize (and I say this with all due respect) that this particular line of reasoning doesn't work.

It has been your decision to give trolls free reign. It is not enough to just "ignore" them when the problem is their posts are purposely deceitful, disingenuous and facetious. This type of behavior does not offer comic relief because they are not funny. Their one purpose is to ruin what is a perfectly good topic.

There are some posters that think Polish is cute, funny, harmless, whatever. He adds nothing and continues to add nothing. And what you mods are doing, by allowing this behavior, is letting him earn whatever money he is getting from Public Strategies or whoever else is paying him.

Delete their nonsense and if they keep it up, ban them. Eventually they'll get the message and will go away. We've been down this road before. Nothing will ever change until you and the other mods decide that a different and more severe method of moderating trolls is in order.

Until then, it will be more of the same. I don't understand why you don't see this.

I don't think that it is reasonable or fair to suggest that Polish is not expressing her honest opinion. I don't think that you have even the slightest basis in fact for calling her a paid shill. While its true that Polish doesn't often add much in the way of new information, it is also true that Polish is knowledgeable and often highlights the absurdity of some hater positions. Such pinpricks are often helpful in forming sound positions.

When Polish gushes over Lance, just let it go. I mean, it's not like she's attacking the Virtuous and Pure Alberto Contador!

Please guys, please.

This is the Lance Thread not the Polish thread.
Can't say I'm not flattered, but c'mon, back to Lance please.
And some of you need to HTFU lol.
waawaa lol again.

So regarding that link I posted yesterday from Lester Munson, a Chicago lawyer and a senior writer for ESPN.com.
Couple questions:
1) What/where is the "jurisdiction" and which witness could flee?
2) Is "coordination of stories" illegal or just advantageous?

Mr Munson said:
the prosecutors told Judge Nguyen in a public filing Wednesday that they were worried that a public discussion of their Armstrong investigation would lead to destruction of "evidence of criminal activity," encourage "coordination of stories before testifying," and even lead witnesses "to flee the jurisdiction."

Don't any of you folks have any sensitivity to sarcasm? Much too much overanalyis. As for things not happening now that Bond's conviction was upheld speculation can spring anew....

This will continue as long as people can post anonymously using monikers rather than real names. I belong to many forums associated with my profession and with my writing all requiring verified identification and this form of trolling is almost non-existent. One poster above indicated the thread has become worthless and I agree; that happened a long time ago.

Mea culpa. I'm an overanalyzer. I'm 99.999999999% certain of it. Sorry if it troubles anybody.

No. This will stop when the mods decide that giving every troll free run of the place has no place here.

Clamp down on their stupidity and they'll be gone in less than a week.

Guaranteed.

Ha ha, this is funny.

TROLLS: "This forum is going to the dogs. Come on, mod, do something about it: delete the haters' comments."
ARMSTRONG DISLIKERS: "This forum is becoming a joke. Come on, mod, haven't you got a job to do? Delete the trolls' comments, for Christ's sake!"

I think the problem is poor Lance, being as colourful a character as he is, can only do so much interesting stuff in a lifetime, and we're all here gossiping day in and day out.

I believe the forum moderators grant an enormous amount of latitude towards Polish because she/he (?) is not taken seriously by the forum and the presentation of its posts appear to be contrived for entertainment value.

Humour is known to be used as an attempted veil to hide the person's convictions eg., racism, political leanings, homophobia, etc., but still is capable of communicating a message.

Polish is expressing opinions that support an outcome it would like to occur so it is not its honest opinion. We have seen examples of that direction.

Paid or amateur/voluntary shill? That is highly probable as Polish appears to have available swift access to LA/Livestrong/team internet references, data and facts. Additionally, it tampers with the truth and spins over that information to support its argument.

It most certainly is fair. There are more than enough posts from Polish that show that the posting is not being done with earnestness. It is done to bait people into arguing against something that Polish does not even believe. A little bit of trolling is one thing. It can be fun, sometimes even inciteful, but when a thread is flooded day after day, week after week, month after month it becomes too much.

This is different than someone like you, whose opinions may be unpopular but those opinions appear to be honest opinions. Reading your posts and the responses is interesting.

As it is, it is not worth wading through the crap in this thread to find the wothwhile posts.

The jurisdiction is the United States of America. If a witness flees, the witness can't be compelled to testify (without laborious work). The feds are probably referring to foreign witnesses who occasionally come to the USA.

By "coordination," the feds mean fabrication.

Thank you MarkvW, makes sense.

I figure any "foreign witness" who occasionally come to the US may change their plans after hearing that statement from the Feds:)

But destruction/coordination/fleeing can still happen.
You have to wonder if it hasn't happened already yikes.

Although I think the main reason for the motion was to quell the leaks.
Secondary reason maybe to get a "peek"

Interesting that Mr Munson ESPN Lawyer/Writer likes leaks.
Encourages leaks lol:

Mr Munson said:
It's difficult for journalists to support any investigation of leaks. We support and encourage leaks to shed light on activities that might otherwise be kept secret, and we do little to discourage them (although The New York Times in handling documents provided by Wikileaks did filter names and discouraged the public release of material that could endanger specific people). But the government is going a step too far with its ex parte filings.

Absolutely. Especially when it's the same 2-3 people ALWAYS picking a ridiculous premise just to incite more nonsense.

And like I said, it is even more disheartening knowing some of these people are getting paid to engage in this activity.

Don't be disheartened Berzin.
I am not being paid to engage in this activity.
No relationship to Lance/Livestrong beyond making meager yearly donations to the LAF.

Just a fanboy here.
BTW, some members of the forum know where I work.
Some because I told them in PMs, and others because they recognized some pictures I posted taken in my little workplace.
When people call me an intern or whatever -they just look silly to those who know the truth.
So just a heads up there.....

Hey, maybe I should post a link to my business like TwelvieCat(sp?) used to?
Or like Joe Papp does now?
No, I chose not to. And the CN Forum Rules honor respect for privacy.

Do you really think people get paid to post here? That is possibly the most ridiculous premise ever. If you really believe that you need to take a break.

Paid Posting

Paid Posting is 'reputation management.' Less specifically, a kind of brand management.

It takes all forms. Straight-out cost per word to exchange for product. If you see an insanely successful 'online' marketing company, chances are excellent they lose no sleep paying to influence opinion.

Ghost writing is an enormous business. Big Pharma's migh get into some trouble in the U.S. for ghost writing research that 'proved' the efficacy of some drugs.

Now, it's awful work being the person who actually ghost writes. (like the old-time porn industry, the money is awful and you have to work anonymously on the production side.) Further up the chain, the money is good.

that would almost be as ridiculous as lying to people who donate to your cancer charity about fighting cancer with their donations ;)

Well at least somebody is.

I thought awhile back the mods were planning to shut down any accusations of getting paid to post. I see it has crept back into the forum, instigated by our favorite "this doper is my favorite rider because I like his pedalling style" poster.
