From a language POV, Uran is better off staying at Movistar, unless he really wants to learn English.

But he would still need somebody like Flecha to translate for him though. Any guess as to what the compensation Sky would have to pay to Unzue for Uran? Wouldn't be cheap I would imagine.

From what I read- again probably wrong- he's leaving because he hasn't signed a contract extension therefore no compensation?

This is the confusing bit, as I have also read that he had a contract till the end of 2011.

Eusebio Unzué on Valverde

“Alejandro has been made to suffer most, this injustice is of a high calibre," said Unzué of his fallen star. "Cycling is a sport that can’t afford the luxury of sacrificing one of its stars, and we have to take it forward."
"It’s not up to me to show whether the punishment is fair or not," Unzué added. "We are working to see if he can return as soon as possible"

Looking forward to see how well Ventoso goes now that he's back on a ProTour team. Sunier Duval was along time ago.

I just read a list of 22 riders for Movistar at Biciciclismo. The article said they plan to carry the minimum of 23 riders, so they need one more.

http://www.biciciclismo.com/cas/site/noticias-ficha.asp?id=30922

What ever happened with Murilo Fischer? I know he still has a year left on his contract, but I remember a Velonation article being trashed here because Fischer was to meet with Unzue that very afternoon to sign with Movistar. I don't recall a link to that affect, but...

This kid is a super talent and a really nice guy. Rode with him + Spanish worlds team in the week leading up to the worlds. The u23s team they brought was a bucketload of talent. Wouldnt be surprised to see Movistar or another spanish team snatch up some more of them. Mikel Landa is a good investment for Euskaltel... Higinio Fernandez Suarez is also going to be huge. Just look at his palmares... Juanjo Lobato, strong sprinter (Stagiaire for Andalucia Cajasur)... Had a bit of an off day in the worlds, placing 9th. Capable of much more. Finally there are some successors to Freire coming through... Would love to see any of these guys at Movistar. They all deserve a spot, but its up to Unzue to decide how many young kids he's going to take on and what type of rider he's looking for. :)

Well, you hounted me on that one LoL ...

I don't think you missed someting, cause you follow, so Specialized gone for 2012 or already for this year, Riis a lame Duck, AC in the ropes and a folding 1 year option contract, Fran having his say "it is time to head home", etc. etc. ...
I don't think you missed something, was just looking for your opinion on what Unzué has said about missing out on AC this time around (lucky for him by the way!), but not the next time, advocated by me that that will be 2012.

For 2012 it might be the most likely team. In this article - http://www.marca.com/2010/08/26/ciclismo/1282842977.html Valverde says he would welcome Contador, Contador has been linked to Unzue before, so it is likely. On the other hand, why has Contador not moved to Unzue before, instead choosing to stick wit Astana, then try Riis. Maybe there is something there?
