I think that, with Pogacar there, the group that Van der Poel pulled clear on the first Montmartre possibly stays away and Evenepoel doesn't even enter the discussion. If not, the race still goes exactly the same way unless Pogacar is immediately on the wheel for the first acceleration.
Pedersen's mechanical doomed that group. If he's in there to start with, there's a good chance it stays away.

In case anyone was wondering how much a medal at he Olympics means and how prestigious the race is, watch the riders celebrating secondary places.

That's French riders celebrating winning a medal in their home games, it's nothing to do with the race

Remco did the biz- despite one heart stopping moment near the end. MvdP did n't follow and got done over.
Big chapeau to Madouas - 2nd again, but not much more he could have done.

What a race! Amazing win by Evenpoel once again. Belgium was just level above France who was another level above everyone else.

Average devils elbow midrace analyses
That post was not intended to sound like that group was going to stay away (although I understand it could be interpreted like that). Stuyven should still have been in that move, not like he did much after that anyway. So if that's average by my standards, that's fine by me.
