I would say getting someone in the break is a tough one for GB. With 7-9 riders its a no brainer but with 5 it becomes tougher. I, personally, think they should have but who would be a good fit for that?

Sky fans whinging already. Although Phil has been whinging for the last hour and a half so no surprises there. O'Grady finished 3rd in his group and could have maybe got a medal had Vino & Uran not got away. As good a chance as Goss.

a) It's a ****ing Olympic gold medal, it is extremey likely Uran will never get that chance again
b) When was there any time to negotiate?
c) Let's say Vino offered a million dollars for the win, would you believe him?
Would you throw away a gold medal just for an unenforcable promise?
d) Especially when the medal could make you a legend in your home country.

Far more likely that Uran just was a fool for a moment.

Better to have O'Grady in the break (who was 5th and sprinting for bronze BTW, not so bad) than drag Cavendish to the line in the unlikely chance that Goss would beat him. IMO, O'Grady had just as good a chance as anyone else in that break and a better chance than Goss against Cavendish. Maybe Goss for a minor medal. It was up to GB and Germany to drag the peloton back IMO and they failed. Because this was on home soil for GB and they way they had been talking prior to the race, this result was an even bigger fail and they only have themselves to blame.

But Cancellara is probably out, so they have a good chance to redeem themselves in the TT.

Definitely made a mistake in having too much confidence in Sky bringing it back together. But hey, we all thought Sky would bring everything back together... Wish he followed his own advice though: not waiting for the bunch sprint. Should've probably focused his race on Cancellara.

Indeed. It was a mistake of some strong men in the bunch to stay in the bunch when they saw Cancellara go. Specially if they knew how many riders were still up there. Sagan, Terpstra and Boonen should've eyed Cancellara more or actually I think they should've went themselves atleast.
In hindsight it's easy to judge though

Fantastic tactics by Australia. Hope that Great Britain will tow them to the break so their best chance to win (Goss), can sprint it out. Then come to the front with 10 kms to go when the race is already over. O'Grady was never going to win after being in the break all day. Pathetic tactics but O'Grady gave it his best.

If Sagan and Boonen had been in the move and pulled back we'd have all said why didn't they wait for the sprint, Sky were always going to bring it back. Like you say, hindsight is always 20-20
