Any complaints about the road surface? It was fecking dreadful last time I rode it 3 weeks ago.

There are unmetalled roads in the middle of the Creuse which are smoother and the top hairpin would make any self- respecting Mairie top himself from embarrassment

Ticketing for the Box Hill/Dorking area is a farce - totally contrary to the spirit of road racing - but Locog are morons so no surprises there.

So everybody is saying the course will be too hard for a bunch sprint. Cav predicts a 'Flanders Classics' style of race scenario...

What do you mean, why was there a seperate England team?

Yup, Cav was riding for GB but there was an England squad too that did most of the work controlling the break for the first half of the race.

That's a bid sad.

It's a test event, and they want to drum up some local interest - it would be nice if that policy extended to actually letting people stand in good spots, but oh well.

Nice surprise to discover all the team buses on St James' Square, if a little odd, seeing Sacha Modolo walk around half naked outside the East India Club.

Next time I want a Walloon, Flemish, Belgian, Brussels and a Diets(all the other squads I just named plus Netherlands and Luxembourg) squad!

And while we're at it, a Congolese and Indonesian support squad

Apprently Box Hill was a bit of a disaster. Several people on twitter have mentioned riders were forced to stop due to all the race traffic following the race.

Lots of reports about poor fan access. Seems the organiser's are trying to copy Beijing...

Steady there El P. An England filler squad in addition to the GB team is no big deal here. It is not so long ago that the Tour of Britain had teams from the individual nations just to make up the numbers.

My post isn't meant to be taken serious, don't worry :p

As I moaned about the schedule earlier in the thread, it's only fair to eat humble pie and say that the riders came past me within the 15 minute tolerance they had advertised. Two ascents of Box Hill was the minimum they could do and still cover the whole of the route at least once.

Saw Longo come past once (but not twice) on Box Hill. Didn't see Vos at all, but Armitstead was following in a team car, and there were other female British riders lurking around earlier in the day.

I really enjoyed the morning, and hope i can get to a similar viewing point for the main events next year. Would have liked to have seen nine laps today as well, though!

Cav will find it much harder when he has only one team leading him out, protecting him, and chasing for him...

Also the extra times up the hill could make it interesting.

Nations only get 5 riders in the Olympics don't they?

Squads could be interesting. Hard to have a lead out AND be able to control a race with only 4 domestiques.

There are seriously times when I hate being a Brit.

Theres a world of difference between being a Brit, and being a Daily mail reader. They are a seperate race.

I once knew someone who bought The Sun for light reading and The Daily Mail for the serious news and opinions...

All on different teams. Wasn't just the national teams there were a few trade teams as well.

Anyway, if anyone wants a laugh read the comments on the Daily Mail website...priceless!

Wouldn't want to give Daily Fail the traffic but I would imagine that the article generally misses the point, is inflammatory and probably poorly written apart from excerpts which they’ve lifted from other sources: wikipedia/press releases/other papers.

Typical British response to something which inconveniences them slightly. It seems that most British people have an over-inflated sense of their own importance and cannot accept anything that impedes them even in the slightest.

I like how one guy complained that he had to walk 2 miles (2 MILES!) to work. I guess his time is so important that he can't afford to lose the 30 minutes it would take him to walk that massive distance...
