What you really really wanted to post was 'hating Contador's socks'.
Not at all....and I preferred Bertie on the red Trek bike...much better
I must have missed something cause I have no clue what ferryman is on about.. you prefer Contador on the red Trek bike instead of ?? Gilbert? Contador's old Specialized? His white Trek bike?

So, every rider showing climbing abilities and potential must prepare for the ultimate pressure of being a future GT contender? Where have the ambitions of being an excellent hilly classics specialist gone?

I'd prefer a Bettini type of rider potential any day rather than a "just below the GT podium".

:)

The edinbugger lost in Fide thinks that I hate Bertie....But really I was only commenting on Gilberts socks...but I prefer Bertie on the red Bike, I just chucked that in for good measure..

it may be a bit hard to understand....just be thankful we don't type in Scottish slang, nobody would have a clue what we were talking about.

I agree, some people are really obsessed with GTs. Why risk the chance to lose weight etc for maybe getting a podium at a GT when you already know you are good enough to win classics and short stage races...

I agree.

My posts were simply just stating the obvious: Alaphilippe will target a GT some day. Therefore I was speculating how well he'd do. Its inevitable he will come to a point where he wants to win one of those some day considering his immense talent.

Also, I don't really think Alaphilippe needs to lose weight and if so, not more than 1-2 kg anyways. He is extremely lean.

When the time comes and he is ready I am sure ASO will prepare the special "hilly classic" route for the first French winner since Hinault in 1985 (waw already 32 years). But I am afraid Tinkoff was right. We still have several years of Froome and Sky. However, who knows what can happen with Sky team after the incoming FOX takeover.

And at other times they refuse to send cycling because they need to rerun some speed skating

At last the battle for the GC. At this point is Alaphilippe's race to lose. Henao & Contador must take the iniciative if they're aiming for podium spots -So they must attack early on the very first climb- the Bourigaille - if not - then they won't get the gaps needed by postponing the aggressive riding on the next stage.

it's all hands on deck :)

La Mur de Fayence is total Alaphilippe land. It's like Huy. Of course Henao might challenge him here, but it will be a seconds game.
It's where Bananito won in 2014 looking like Jan Ullrich after Christmas.

They have given Col de Bourigaille a category 1. Once again this is bs. First ascent is 5,5k @ 6,1%, second ascent is 8,1k @ 5,9%. The maximum is 8%. There is no chance to get QS into trouble here, if Alaphilippe performs at his current level.
