Congratulations to Tim Merlier for wining the sprint.

As for GC battle. Day one, sprinters stage and Pogi already isolated Jonas twice and gained 6 bonus seconds. In my opinion teams won't play that big role on this race. It's in between them.

With a TTT in a 1 week race, I'd say the team is rather important ;)

On this race Pogi doesn't have to worry about JV numbers game. Hence if he can gain something he should attack. Especially as Jonas might get a couple of "bonus" seconds at TTT.

Pog's problem weren't the Jumbo numbers. Pog's problem last year was that Vingo was was equally strong/stronger than him. This may very well be the case this year as well.

Vingegaard was smart.
That sounds like what a condescendant teacher says of the dumb kid in class.

Wrong. Pog's problem started when he thought he ought to cover Roglic's attack and Vingo's attacks. That's teamwork.

Right. Because Pog was actually stronger than Vingo everywhere else in the Tour.

They will on Tuesday.

On paper yes and likely Jonas to indeed gain some "bonus". But somehow i feel that this won't be the decisive moment of the race. In regards to GC. For that i feel that Pogi and Jonas and maybe a drone to keep up.

Obviously.

Other than bonus seconds the TTT will separate the inseparable Pogi and Vingo based on their current form. Teams certainly matter for this race.

Nah i don't buy it. Teams won't decide this race. First stage for sprinters and both teams already nowhere to be seen. And both JV and UAE for sure didn't bring the best of the best. Likely intentionally. Hence team leaders will need to decide the outcome of this race.

But best to wait and see.

The TTT will decide the race. I don't think there will be significant differences between vingegaard and pogacar in the mountains.

Different dynamics in a 1-week race, where fatigue does not have the same impact.
I tend to think it's unwise to expend energy unneccesserily. And it's also better to strike at the right moments.

That's completely meaningless on VRT. Basically every Dutch/Flemish tv show, interview.... is being subtitled. Only the news broadcast and a few other things don't get subtitles. Currently looking at "Het Verhaal van Vlaanderen" which has university professors as commentators and a professional actor to tell the story... every word is subtitled.

They used to do this for heavy local accents and dialects, because there are some parts of Flanders where people have a congenital birth defect that leads to speech impediment. So they started subtitling that, but then those people got offended, and so they started subtitling everyone.

Hey now, I feel offended!

Unless you mean Limburg instead of West-Vlaanderen, then I fully agree. ;)
