I like Van der Poel and Van Aert a lot but they often don't seem to be the smartest riders around

Probably an hour until they hit the first sector.

They could put a couple of minutes into that second peloton, if they keep co-operating. A few riders should give everything they got up until the first sector in both the first and second group for their leaders.

Who is in second group? Van Aert, Mvdp, Laporte, Asgreen, Pedersen.

This is an excellent possiility for everyone in the front group and Quickstep/Ineos have seen the light. Ditch the top favourites in the wind and go for victory.

The second group might wake up and organize the chase.

This is going to be fun.
